Apple iPhone’s launch date?

Ever since Steve Jobs' keynote at the Macworld Expo in January, we've known that the iPhone is being released sometime in June. First it was rumors about AT&T customer service manager confirming that the release date will be June 11 and recently it was an official letter sent to AT&T employees which suggests that it will be June 15th, the speculations continue.

Update as on 8th May:

Based on the latest reports from folks at BoyGenius report who seem to have got hold of an official letter sent to all corporate AT&T employees, the Apple iPhone launch will take place on June 15th with the launch period extended until the 15th of July. It also seems that AT&T isn’t approving their employees from taking any vacations during that timeframe, due to what the company is referring to as “the biggest selling period we have seen in a few years.”

I have also changed the title of the post from "Apple iPhone's launch date: June 11th, 2007" to "Apple iPhone's launch date?" as I don't want to be second time wrong as the launch date still seems to be speculations as it would be best to believe it when you see the launch date either on Apple or AT&T's website or are told the iPhone is available in the stores.

Previous Post:

Now Cingular is confirming that the release date will be June 11. A customer service manager at Cingular (we called 800-947-5096 and were transferred to sales) gave us that date late Thursday, but, alas, said he didn't have any additional information beyond that.

That date is no coincidence. It's the first day of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled to be held in San Francisco from June 11 through June 15. (Incidentally, the agenda includes a focus on Leopard, the next generation of OS X that's supposed to be released sometime in the second quarter of 2007.)

Rumors have been swirling about the iPhone release date. One blog pointed to a release date of June 15 based on alleged documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission, but those have been shown to be a hoax.
