iPhone rumors | More memory, user replaceable battery and lots more

As we are getting closer to Apple's iPhone release, speculations about it only seem to be increasing. Folks at Vim3 weblog seem to have go hold of some interesting bit of details on some iPhone features which hasn't been revealed by Apple so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Jobs has kept some more tricks up his sleeve, as there has been so much chatter around the iPhone post its announcement that people are already complaining of iPhone fatigue (obviously not me) so anything new will definitely add to the excitement.

If you are wondering, why has Steve Jobs not told us all he knew about the iPhone during his Keynote address in January, then they have an explanation for that as well. According to their source, there are two reasons why Jobs hasn't revealed all the iPhone features:

  1. Apple did not want to affect iPod sales as the iPhone was to be released only in June.
  2. Apple has not released a new video player version of their iPod since 2005, despite the update to the 5G iPod in 2006.

Listed below are details of the hidden iPhone features:

Software: The iPhone will feature variations of iWork and iLife suites. The iPhone variation of iWork will feature word processing, spreadsheets, and a slideshow viewer. This will be quite critical for business users, I will be surprised if the iPhone (read a smartphone) is launched without this feature.

User Replaceable Battery: This will indeed be very good news, I have put it as a negative in all my smartphone comparisons with the iPhone.

More memory: The iPhone is expected to have substantially “larger” flash memory drive that first announced. Does that mean that the 8 GB or 4 GB thats mentioned on Apple's site is exclusively to store your music?

iTunes Streaming: The iPhone will allow you to stream content from an iTunes computer on a Wi-Fi network. You will thus be able to watch a movie on your iPhone without taking up disk space. Nice!

Wireless N Support
- The iPhone features a wireless chipset, which will include draft-N support in additional to Wi-Fi (802.11b/g).

All these features will definitely make the iPhone that much more hotter (If you haven't read this article, do give it a read to understand the context).

However, these are all speculations, to me it just seems too good to be true or should I say iPhone 2nd generation.
