Which one will be your "God Machine"? Apple iPhone VS HTC Touch

With the launch of Apple's much-hyped iPhone now only a couple of weeks away, I am sure many of you have already made up your minds to camp outside Apple or AT&T stores to be the first to get their hands on the iPhone. However with a string of announcements  by Apple's comptetitors of new version of their own smartphones dubbed as iPhone killers I am sure there are a sizeable number of those who are sitting on the fence unable to decide which one of the new smartphone should they buy.

It has been a pleasure to bring you comparison of Apple's iPhone versus Helio Ocean, Nokia N95, BlackBerry Curve (8300), Palm Treo 755p & Motorola Q to help you take a more informed decision. However, the good news (gives you a wider range to choose from) or bad news (if it wasn't confusing enough) depending on the way you look at it is the list does not seem to end there.

In last few weeks there has been quite a bit of buzz surrounding HTC's Touch running on Microsoft's latest Windows Mobile platform (Windows Mobile 6), so let us see which smartphone will win the battle of the "God machine", Apple iPhone or HTC Touch after the jump.

Advantages of HTC Touch versus Apple iPhone:

Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional: HTC Touch runs on the latest Windows Mobile platform i.e. Windows Mobile 6 Professional, thus making integration with other Microsoft Windows applications easy. Also impressive about this version of Windows mobile is the new e-mail search function, Mobile Office additions, and Windows Live integration.

Email: As HTC Touch runs on the Windows Mobile 6 platform, one will have Microsoft's Direct Push technology so you get real-time e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization with your Outlook calendar, tasks, and contacts via Exchange Server. This is quite an important feature for business users.

Office documents:
The big news here is since HTC Touch runs Windows Mobile 6 it will now have the full Microsoft Office Mobile Suite so you can not only see said files but also edit them. Another important feature for a smartphone.

Third Party Applications:
Third-party software for Windows Mobile will be abundantly available. It’s unlikely that an investment in Microsoft OS would leave you wanting for any application.

User Interface:
The HTC Touch's large 2.8 TFT touch screen with TouchFLO technology allows you to either use your fingers or stylus to move seamlessly between functions. In addition to TouchFLO you can also use the five navigation key to navigate and open applications, thus giving a user multiple options based on his/her preference.

Messenger:
Due to the Windows Mobile 6.0 platform you should also get Live Messenger (formerly MSN Messenger) so now, you can have multi-person chats and send images and voice clips via IM.

A microSD card slot:
This ensures that the HTC Touch is versatile enough to transfer media quickly and more importantly giving you the option of expanding the memory capacity.

PS: Some of the features mentioned above have been assumed based on Windows Mobile 6 Professional features as the details of these features are not currently available on HTC Touch website.

Advantages of Apple iPhone VS HTC Touch:

iPod: iPhone is a not just a phone it is widescreen iPod with touch controls that lets you enjoy all your content including music, audiobooks, videos, TV shows, and movies on a beautiful 3.5-inch widescreen display (BlackBerry Curve only has a 2.5 inch screen). The BlackBerry curve does have a media player, however with all the iPod features and 4 GB/8 GB space, it makes the iPhone the best music phone.

Visual Voicemail: The iPhone lets you select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want — just like email using a revolutionary new feature called the visual voicemail.

Advanced Safari browser: iPhone lets you see any web page the way it was designed to be seen, then easily zoom in by simply tapping on the multi-touch display with your finger which will change mobile browsing for the good.

User Interface: iPhone features the most revolutionary user interface since the mouse. It’s an entirely new interface based on a large multi-touch display and innovative new software that lets you control everything using only your fingers.

QWERTY soft keyboard: iPhone’s full QWERTY soft keyboard lets you easily send and receive SMS messages in multiple sessions. And the keyboard is predictive, so it prevents and corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use however only time will tell if it is better than the full Qwerty keyboard.

Conclusion:

So will HTC Touch give Apple's iPhone a run for its machine to the race for the "God Machine " status. I guess at the end of the day that decision is yours to make, it really doesn't matter what others think, the decision should be based on what you are looking for in the smartphone.

I hope all the comparisons will help you make that decision and not confuse you further.
