iPhone Application (Hack): IRC on iPhone

If you are one of those who are hooked on to IRC (Internet Relay Chat) and are on the lookout for new applications for your iPhone, then there is some good news. Folks at GearLive have published a tutorial to help you get IRC running on your iPhone.

More details on how to get IRC running on the iPhone after the jump.

To summarize, all you need is Colloquy which is an OS X application, a Colloquy web interface add-on and spend a minute or so on the terminal to setup IRC on your iPhone. However, the limitation here is that you do need a Mac to use this method.

Once you're done with setup, launch Colloquy and point your iPhone's browser to http://YourIP:6667. As can be seen in the image below, the UI looks quite clean and readable. Folks at Tuaw have also tried it out and have confirmed it works great.

If all this has got you interested follow the link to see the tutorial or this walk-through gallery to get IRC running on the iPhone.
