"Installer.app" released to simplify application (hacks) management on your iPhone

iPhone Applications

We had seen a flood of iPhone applications (hacks is probably the more appropriate term) in the last couple of weeks, however one of the complaints from many iPhone users has been that the iPhone hacks are mostly complicated and difficult to install and at times even hard to find.

So in order to make things easier, a new Installer app aptly called "Installer.app" currently in beta has been released to simplify application management on your iPhone over Wi-Fi.

The installer as you would expect will help you install, update and uninstall quite a few iPhone applications (hacks). There is no list available on the applications the installer will support or the steps to be followed to include future applications but it is safe to assume that the iPhone applications seen in the screenshot below will be supported.

iPhone Applications

You will need to use command like tools like iPHUC to place this new Installer.app into your iPhone's applications directory and it should work. I am not sure if the latest version of iFuntastic (currently available for Intel based MACs only), which came out last week that offers a full iPhone file browser can be used here. (see iPhoneHacks.com, iFuntastic v2.5 now also has a iPhone file browser)

Once installed it seems like a good solution for keeping your iPhone updated with the latest and greatest version of the iPhone applications.

Before you proceed to check out this latest iPhone hack, it is important for me to highlight the warning on the developers website:

"WARNING: This software comes with absolutely no warranty of any kind. If it should cause any harm to your iPhone or data, we shall not be held responsible. Such is the nature of preview (Beta) software."

The download link along with some very basic instructions are available here. Please don't forget to share your experience here if you go ahead and give this a shot especially a step by step on how you got it working.

I wonder when we are going to see Apple release new applications, the speculation currently is that we should start seeing them post Leopard's release till then happy hacking.
