iPhone Application: Talking iPhone Translator

iPhone

Have you ever been in a situation where you want to strike a conversation with this gorgeous looking foreigner at the bar but the only problem is; you can't say your favorite pickup line in her language.

Folks at Coolgorilla have come out with a cool application for your iPhone called the "iPhone Translator" to help you out in exactly such situations.

Coolgorilla has been developing software applications for iPods & Mobile phones and as you would expect has just launched their first application for the iPhone called the "iPhone Translator".

The application provides you with both text and audio translations (more like a phrase book) in French, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Italian with the Greek version expected soon making it a perfect companion if you are in Europe or on a Europe trip. The iPhone Translator will also help brush up your language skills as you can verify the pronunciation of a phrase by hearing it first.

iPhone

The iPhone translator is apparently easy to use and requires the user to select the language, then find the desired phrase from a menu system much like a standard phrase book, press select and the iPhone then "speaks" the phrase using the recordings of real, native voice-over artists using its speakers and also supplies a text translation on screen.

The iPhone application is available free of cost thanks to a sponsorship with travel site lastminute.com (an ideal match I must say).

To check it out, please go to the special iPhone page and as always do let me know if you liked it. I will definitely be using it when I get my hands on the iPhone i.e. when Apple launches it in Europe.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the Joey (from Friend's) inspired pickup line "How you doin'?" in the Socialising->At the Bar section of the phrase book, but hey, at least I will be say "Te invito a una cerveza." i.e. Spanish for "Can I buy you a drink?".
