iPhone Hack brings Streaming Radio to the iPhone

I had written an article yesterday about BBC's formidable Podcast catalogue now being available on the iPhone, however one of the problems with it if you tried checking it out from outside of UK was that not all podcasts are available.

Here is another internet radio application for the iPhone that you could try out, its also the first native iPhone application to stream internet radio to the iPhone.

Its the unauthorized iPhone Application recently released by Conceited Software called iRadio.

Conceited Software have recently released a native iPhone Application called iRadio for the iPhone (will also work with iPod Touch), the same folks who have brought us a lot of native iPhone applications. Here is what they have to say about themselves

"We are a group of geeks who love pushing the limits in everything we do. We love the iPhone and we want all iPhone owners to be able to maximize performance and add value to an already awesome product."

iRadio is currently in beta and only does MPEG streams at the moment, which should also work over iPhone's EDGE network thanks to the low speed streams. There is a long list of stations to choose from, in fact more than 100 stations are available currently.

However, like most software that is in beta this native iPhone application as you can see in the screenshot below could do with a clean up of the User Interface to make it more user-friendly.

There have also been reports of it crashing and folks at 9to5Mac are even reporting that it is messing a bit with the syncing, so if you plan to give it a shot, it is at your own risk.

Only yesterday I had mentioned that internet radio probably is the way to go, and the iPhone hacking geeks at Conceited Software have proved that it indeed is possible. I am sure when this application comes out of beta it will be one of the killer iPhone Applications.

Thanks guys over at Conceited Software, keep up the great work.

Folks as always let me know your thoughts on the latest native iPhone application in the comments.
