Many readers here @ iPhone Hacks asked me if I had a solution to the YouTube problem which they faced after Jailbreaking iPhone running on firmware v1.1.2, as post the jailbreak apparently YouTube stopped working.
Unfortunately I am no iPhone hacking genius I am just a passionate fanboy and a humble reporter of all the hacks, applications and news on the iPhone, so could not provide a solution. However, for all those readers I have some good news as Erica over at Tuaw who now is the iPhone hacking legend has posted a link to a simple guide by Ging of the South which should help in resolving the YouTube problem.
One of the problems reported by iPhone owners who had been adventurous enough to Jailbreak their iPhone running firmware v1.1.2 is that YouTube does not work.
The simple guide posted by folks at Ging of the South involves a 5-step process, though the guide suggests that it works only with iPhone firmware v1.0.2 since Erica has reviewed it, it is quite safe to assume it will work.
It involves the following 5 steps:
- You need to download some 3 files.
- Upload the three files downloaded in step 1 and replace them with existing files.
- You then need to download activation record .plist file.
- Prepare activation record .plist file which will need you to use a property list editor. (Windows users could use Erica's plutil utility which essentially converts the file to XML format and then edit it with your favorite text editor.)
- Restart your iPhone.
If you are one of those who is stuck with a Jailbroken iPhone v1.1.2 in which YouTube does not work and plan to try this fix do let us know if it works. However, do remember that as it involves replacing of files you will be trying this out at your own risk.
Here is the link to the complete guide.

MY Youtube works fine on my Iphone I Jailbroke it using the method that u have to downgrade to 1.1 and then update to 1.2 and it works without a problem
My youtube works fine. Just need more new videos…..Thanks for the tip though…

My phone has a life of it's own…It's as if it's trying to say something…It keeps crashing…
Think it's saying : "free me!"
I am on an unlocked 1.1.2 iPhone(therefore jailbroken aswell, obviously) and I never had a problem with Youtube.
There is a much easier way to have YouTube working again on a jailbroken 1.1.2 iPhone (you have to have the installer installed, but i guess that's why people jailbreak their iPhones):
++ Add a new source: http://s.apfelphone.net
++ Restart Installer
++ Under 'categories > apfelphone.net Tools' you will find the YouTube fix
++ Install it
++ Restart iPhone
++ YouTube will work fine after this
