Yesterday I had reported that the iPhone Dev team had released an automatic graphical method for upgrading to a jailbroken iPhone firmware v1.1.3 called "Official 1.1.3 Upgrader".
However, there have been several users reporting problems with the jailbreak method. The iPhone Dev team have been quick to address most of the issues in a new version of their automatic jailbreak method called “Official 1.1.3 upgrader 1.1.3-2?.

If you are anywhere in central US and are getting the error message "Could Not Activate Edge…" and think problem is to do with your iPhone and blaming Apple for it then you are wrong.
According to BBuehnerm, one of poster at the Apple Support discussion forums who contacted AT&T, the reason for the problem is apparently due to the servers responsible for running the EDGE network for AT&T are down. Based on the comments by users on Apple discussion board it seems to affect users from Chicago to Kansas.
AT&T expect the issue to be resolved before the days end (or could go as long as February 5th which seems highly unlikely).

If you are one of those who is finding it difficult to jailbreak iPhone firmware v1.1.3 then things have got a lot easier as the iPhone hacking community have just sanctioned an automatic graphical method for upgrading to a jailbroken iPhone firmware v1.1.3 called "Official 1.1.3 Upgrader".

Erica Sadun over at Tuaw is reporting that an anonymous tipster informed them about a website which seems to have revealed the iPhone’s SDK key. The news has been further confirmed by iPhone "Elite" developer Zibri’s blog post.
Erica has this to say about the significance of the key:
"Since all iPhone applications must be properly signed for iTunes to process them and for the iPhone to load them, this key suggests that hackers are closer to creating compliant IPA application bundles for home-brew iTunes distribution. With the proper key, developers can create and distribute applications that load through iTunes without Apple’s blessing."
Though I am not challenging the significance such a key could hold, I find it extremely hard to believe that the iPhone hackers have been able to crack it and then get away publishing it to the world.
Also even if we assume that the iPhone hacking geniuses have managed to get the key using Brute force, why would they publish it even before the SDK is released? It feels too stupid to be true.

iPhone Atlas is reporting that they have got news that the software-based jailbreak method for iPhone firmware v1.1.3 which I have reported about only a couple of days back could be released as early as tonight or tomorrow.
So looks like the iPhone hacking community who were deliberating whether or not to release the method before Apple’s official SDK is announced (expected sometime in February) have decided to release it soon.
However, the iPhone hacking geniuses don’t want to reveal all their secrets, apparently they have not just one but two methods to jailbreak the iPhone firmware v1.1.3 and they are planning to only release one of the methods for now while we can expect the other jailbreak method to be released after the official SDK is announced.

There is some good news and bad news on the iPhone hacking front. First, the good news, the iPhone hacking community seem to have done it again as they have managed to Jailbreak the latest iPhone firmware. However, the bad news is that the iPhone hackers have still not published the jailbreaking method.

iTunes 7.6 News: Manually Manage Music and Videos
Along with the news of Apple iPhone Firmware v1.1.3 release, I had mentioned that Apple had also released iTunes v7.6, which features support for iTunes Movie rentals and tweaks for the iPhone. However, there was another great feature that was released which was not documented.
So if you were missing the feature to manually manage music/videos on your iPhone, then there is some good news for you as Apple has finally introduced this as an option with the release of iTunes v7.6.
You can drag and drop music and videos onto the iPhone icon to copy them to the device, or delete music and videos directly from the device while it is connected.
If you have upgraded to iTunes v7.6, you can enable this option you need to click on your iPhone in the left-hand pane of iTunes, then click “Summary” Check the option for “Manually manage music and videos”.
