Is AT&T's EDGE Network in Central US down?

If you are anywhere in central US and are getting the error message "Could Not Activate Edge..." and think problem is to do with your iPhone and blaming Apple for it then you are wrong.

According to BBuehnerm, one of poster at the Apple Support discussion forums who contacted AT&T, the reason for the problem is apparently due to the servers responsible for running the EDGE network for AT&T are down. Based on the comments by users on Apple discussion board it seems to affect users from Chicago to Kansas.

AT&T expect the issue to be resolved before the days end (or could go as long as February 5th which seems highly unlikely).

If you are affected or have any further updates for us on this issue then do let us know in the comments.
