Native iPhone Game: DOOM gets an Update

One of the most exciting news on the gaming front since the iPhone launch was to see stepwhite, an iPhone hacking guru get DOOM running on the iPhone.

psychochromatic, an iPhone hacking genius and a friend of stepwhite has picked up from where stepwhite had left by taking control of the project and he has recently released a new version of Doom with on-screen touch controls.

When I first reported about native DOOM on the iPhone it was not in playable state as the controller was not implemented.

After taking control of the project from stepwhite, psychochromatic has got DOOM to run faster than ever and is currently working in widescreen mode.

Before you get all excited kindly note that though psychochromatic has got DOOM to run on the iPhone it is still not in a playable state as he is still working hard on proper sizing of elements, and onscreen touch controls.

You can at least check out the YouTube video of DOOM running on the iPhone below for now. As you can see the on-screen touch controls are quite interesting.
