No Hacking Required: Latest version of 1Password brings Password AutoFill to iPhone's Safari Browser

Do you use an application to help you keep track of all web passwords and for automated sign-in? If yes, chances are you currently missing it on your iPhone.

Not any more as there is some good news for all you folks, the makers of 1Password have come up with with an ingenious way to sync your passwords with the iPhone or iPod Touch.

They have recently released the latest version of 1Password which has the ability to sync all login information as a bookmarklet to iPhone/iPod Touch. When opened, this bookmarklet will allow automatic login into any website.

When I had initially reviewed 1Password a few months back, Agile Web Solutions had introduced a new icon on its toolbar called "Sync to iPhone" clicking on which would export all your 1Password data to an encrypted Safari Bookmarklet, which can then be used on the iPhone (or even iPod Touch) to access all your login information.

However I had mentioned that though 1Password was definitely an easy way to sync your password information to the iPhone, it still did not solve the problem completely as at that time it only made information available on the iPhone but was limited in utility as it didn’t populate the webform with the username and password.

The latest version of 1Password has solved that limitation as it now has the ability to sync to iPhone/iPod touch all stored login information as a bookmarklet. When opened, this bookmarklet will allow automatic login into any website.

In case you are worried about data security, David Teare, co-author of 1Password points out that everything is encrypted with some seriously strong using strong Cryptography (448-bit Blowfish encryption) and can only be accessed once the correct Access Code is entered. The confidential information is decrypted within Safari on the iPhone and no communication with the 1Password web servers is required.

You can find a complete guide on how to use the new feature at iLikeMyiPhone.com.

Unfortunately, 1Password is currently only available for Mac OS X.

1Password is available for $29.95 and do remember that the Password Auto-filling feature for Safari on iPhone is just one of the features of this password manager utility.

As always, do let us know if you found this iPhone Application useful.
