iPhoneNotes: App to Download & Manage iPhone Notes

Native iPhone Application - NES Emulator (thumbnail)

If you are missing the feature of syncing notes on the iPhone to your Mac then you should checkout this application called iPhoneNotes.

Its available for free and in addition to syncing notes from your iPhone to your Mac it also allows you to view, edit, add or remove notes from your iPhone.

iPhoneNotes developed by developer V1ru8 currently includes the following features:

  • Ability to download notes from your iPhone.
  • View the notes.
  • Edit (change, add and remove) notes from your iPhone.
  • Save them back to your iPhone.

iPhoneNotes is a freeware and is available as a universal binary so currently only limited to Mac users. It only works over Wi-Fi and will need a jailbroken iPhone running firmware 1.1.3 or higher as it needs OpenSSH installed on your iPhone. If you want to jailbreak your iPhone you can check out this post: Step-By-Step Guide to JailBreak iPhone Firmware 1.1.4 using ZiPhone.

When you run iPhoneNotes on your Mac it searches for the iPhone with Bonjour. Once it finds the iPhone you should be able to download notes from the iPhone and then view, edit or change them on your Mac and then sync the changes back to the iPhone. It does this by syncing the Notes database from your iPhone.

It appears that the developer had recently added the auto-update feature in the latest version of iPhoneNotes i.e. v0.3 so I am assuming you do not need to do the syncing manually.

This seems like a nifty little application for the iPhone especially if you were looking for an option to sync and manage notes from your iPhone to your Mac and vice versa. Checkout the developer's website for more details and to download the application.

You can also checkout MegaPhone (previously known as iPhoneDrive) which also gives you the ability to add, edit and delete notes directly on your iPhone in addition to enabling you to use your iPhone's or iPod Touch's unused storage space as a disk drive to say backup data or transfer between Macs. However, it will set you back by $19.95.

As always do give your feedback on this application in the comments.
