Apple's new iPhone 3G Disassembled; reveals Battery User-Replaceable (kind of)
Folks at iFixit have done it again, they have done what any geek would love to do, i.e to crack open Apple's new iPhone 3G to see what's inside.
In doing so, they have kept their promise to be the first to disassemble iPhone 3G. But for that they had to go down all the way to New Zealand where the new iPhone 3G was to be released first based on the timezone.
You can check out all the photos of the disassembled iPhone after the jump courtesy folks at iFixit. It has also revealed that iPhone 3G's battery might be user-replaceable.

Box of the Black iPhone 3G, with similar packaging as the original iPhone.

Contents of the box, the usual stuff

Removing the SIM card

Removing the display

Rotating the display up

The display detached from the unit

The glass (with integrated touch sensors and chips) underneath, while the LCD is being removed.

The two boards (logic and communications) are now one.

The battery isn't soldered on

Dock and headphone connector.

iPhone 3G's logic board

The entire board

The other half of the logic board

The rear panel

The battery is without any soldering as was seen with the original iPhone

There you go, iPhone 3G wide open
You can be seen from the screenshots above that iPhone 3G battery is not soldered so it is possible for iPhone owners who want to get their hands dirty (and risk voiding the warranty) to replace their iPhone's battery.
Thanks iFixit.
