iPhone Dev Team report Pwnage Tool works with iPhone firmware 2.1 (Beta 1)

If you are worried about the imminent release of iPhone firmware 2.1 which was seeded to registered users of the iPhone Developer program, then here is some news that will interest you.

Apple had seeded developers of iPhone's Developer program with a beta version of iPhone firmware 2.1 (Beta 1, Build 5F90) couple of days back.

The iPhone Dev Team have managed to get a copy of it as well. They have published on their blog that they have been able to successfully pwn iPhone firmware 2.1 with their Pwnage Tool and it still works.

Here is what they had to say:

Here’s a screen shot (seen below) of 2.1 running on an unlocked iPhone 1G.  Pwnage remains in effect.   Unlike all other jailbreaks (and unlocks for 1G), we believe Pwnage to be fixable only via a hardware revision.

They have also highlighted that so far Pwnage Tool has worked for iPhone firmware 1.1.4 and all eight iPhone firmware 2.0 betas, the final iPhone firmware 2.0 which was released to iPhone users, and now iPhone firmware 2.1 (Beta 1).
