iPhone Dev Team's New QuickPwn Tool makes it Easier and Quicker to Jailbreak iPhone
The iPhone Dev Team have released a tool called QuickPwn which makes it easier and quicker to jailbreak iPhone.
This new jailbreaking process from the iPhone Dev Team does not need iTunes-based full restore.
The iPhone Dev Team had this to say about the QuickPwn Tool:
"It’s a tool we’ve been working on to jailbreak a phone more quickly and easily, without requiring a full restore. Unless you are making a custom firmware with specific features, there is nothing inherent in the pwnage process that requires a restore, and we have been planning this tool for some time. It’s more convenient because you do not need to make a full IPSW and use iTunes with it, but your phone still ends up pwned and jailbroken."
They go on to add that:
"What you’re getting here is a development version (mostly feature complete) of an upcoming tool that we see as a complement to our current PwnageTool."
The QuickPwn will work with only iPhone running firmware 2.0.1 at the moment but should work for both the first generation iPhones and iPhone 3G. Support for other firmware versions is expected in the future.
Here are the instructions that were mentioned in the readme:
1) Drop an unmodified 2.0.1 IPSW downloaded directly from Apple into the same
folder as the quickpwn.exe binary.2) Close all other applications, including of course iTunes and iTunes Helper.
3) Double-click:
iPhone 3G.bat if you have an iPhone 3G
iPhone 2G.bat if you have a first-generation iPhone
iPod touch.bat if you have an iPod touch.3) Follow the on-screen instructions
iPhone Dev Team's QuickPwn tool is still a beta version and currently only for Windows users. Other OS versions is expected to be released soon.
So if you are facing error 6, 1601, 1602, no signal after using the WinPwn Tool, then you can give this new tool from the dev team a shot as some iPhone users are reporting success using the tool. You can download it from this link.
In case you are wondering about the status on unlocking iPhone 3G, there are no updates from the iPhone Dev Team though we know they are working hard to crack it.
Please don't forget to backup your iPhone before you try pwning your iPhone with QuickPwn. As always do let us know how it goes.
Thanks At0mAng for the tip!
