iPhone 3G will be Launched in Singapore, India, Poland, Hungary and many more Countries on August 22nd [Updated]
There is some good news for folks who were waiting to get their hands on Apple's iPhone 3G in Singapore, India, Poland, Philippines, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, and Estonia and many more countries.
Carriers in these countries have announced that will be introducing iPhone 3G on August 22nd in line with Apple's announcement during their Q3 2008 financial results conference call that iPhone 3G will be rolled out in 20 more countries.
The following carriers will be bringing iPhone 3G in your respective countries:
- Singtel of Singapore sent out an email telling interested customers that they will be sending out more details next week. Those who sign up at singtel.com/iphone will receive priority.
- Bharti Airtel announced that they will launch iPhone 3G on August 22nd in India, before Vodafone will start its sales in the same region and even before the 3G network gets rolled out as we hear that Department of Telecom has just announced the much-awaited guidelines for third-generation (3G) spectrum allocation.
- Orange announced that they will be bringing the iPhone 3G to Romania on August 22nd.
- O2, Vodafone, and T-Mobile have announced the iPhone 3G for the Czech Republic.
- Orange and Era will be offering the iPhone 3G in Poland.
- Globe Telecom announced for Philippines.
- T-Mobile announced for Hungary.
- TeliaSonera announced that they would be bringing the iPhone 3G to Estonia on August 22nd.
It will be interesting to know how many of you in these countries already own an unlocked iPhone? And if you plan to upgrade to iPhone 3G when it is officially launched in your country.
Update:
Latin American cellular operator America Movil which is currently selling iPhone 3G only in Mexico has announced that it will launch Apple's new iPhone 3G in ten additional countries on August 22. Movil plans to launch the iPhone in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.
So far we have announcements from carriers in only 8 18 countries, I guess
we should see announcements from carriers from the remaining 12
2 more countries very soon.
Update (7th Aug, 2008):
We just got news that TeliaSonera’s LMT will be launching iPhone 3G in Latvia and Omnitel services will be one launching it in Lithuania to complete the list of 20 countries where iPhone 3G is expected to be launched on Aug 22nd.
