iPhone Hacked to Take Close-Up Photos

Native iPhone applications like Cycorder, Flixwagon and Qik have added some cool functionality to iPhone's basic camera app.
However, one of TUAW's readers, Daniel Forsythe wanted to use iPhone's camera to read bar codes that he shoots from magazines and equipment labels which was not possible with iPhone's camera so he has hacked his iPhone to focus a bit closer up.
We already know that iPhone's camera is one of the most basic point-and-shot camera so its lens has been focused for the most general possible use.
Daniel broke the glue holding the lens on and flipped it around, moving it's focus closer to the camera to make iPhone's camera work as per his requirements. With this setup, he was able to take some pretty neat macro photos as seen below.

The iPhone hack is definitely not for the faint hearted as it involves disassembling your iPhone, removing the camera, scrapping out some glue that holds the camera lens in place, and then re-focusing the camera by rotating the lens.
If you are interested and are fine voiding your iPhone's warranty then you can following this link for the detailed instructions on how to mod the iPhone to take close-up photos.
In case you get adventurous, do let us know how it goes.
