Simplify Media’s iPhone App brings iTunes Streaming to iPhone [iPhone Apps Review]

Simplify Media's iPhone App

Simplify Media has just released their iPhone app on the App Store which brings iTunes streaming to the iPhone.

Apple is rumored to be working on a similar feature. A new patent application had revealed that Apple was working on a feature for iPhone users to be able to wirelessly access their home computer's iTunes media library over the air using Wi-Fi or cellular network without having to download the media content to the iPhone.

Simplify Media's iPhone applications works exactly as advertised. It streams the music collection on your computer's iTunes media library to the iPhone.

All you need to do is download and install their client software which is available for Mac, Linux and Windows and register for a free account.

If you are running Simplify Media for the first time and have a huge playlist; then let Simplify Media's client software run for at least a few minutes to cache the song lists.

You then install the iPhone application from the App Store. After you have installed the iPhone App, launch the app and log in to the account you had created using the client software.

You should be able to see the iTunes playlists, which you can play wirelessly over the air on Wi-Fi or cellular network. The application also displays cover art, artist bios and lyrics of the song.

You need to restart the iPhone app to reestablish a new connection if you change networks while using Simplify Media (Cell Network to Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi to Cellular Network).

Simplify media also allows you to invite up to 30 friends to listen to your playlists.

I checked out the iPhone app over Wi-Fi and it worked quite well.

You can check out the video clip of Simplify Media's iPhone app below to get an overview:

Simplify Media's iPhone is giving away their iPhone app free for the first 100,000 downloads, after which they will charge $3.99. So grab your free copy of Simple Media's iPhone App as soon as possible using this iTunes link and download the client software from this link.

Streaming of iTunes library is not new, we have already seen an iPhone trick to stream music, video and music from iTunes library. We have also seen iPhone software like Remote Buddy and Dot.Tunes that offer streaming of your iTunes library on your computer to the iPhone.

As always don't forget to let us know your feedback on Simplify Media's iPhone app.

Who needs more than an 8gb iPhone?!

Unfortunately it doesn't show my playlists nor any songs that are protected AAC files :(

This app is like the dancing bear: it's not that it dances well, it's just great that it can dance at all.

Bottom line for me is that it's incredibly flaky, perhaps due to switching networks. And no playlists? That's really limiting, when I have it going against my 20,000 song library.

Works fantastically for me, I had been looking for a long time for this solution, many of the other software or web solutions available were just too complicated, this ones works great both on my work PC and on the iPhone
