iPhone 3G Ads in UK say "Really Fast" and Not "Twice As Fast"

iPhone 3G

Apple's iPhone television ad that says "all the parts of the internet are on the phone" was banned by UK's Advertising watchdog as they got complaints from some customers claiming that it gave a misleading impression of the internet capabilities of the iPhone.

It appears that Apple has changed the wordings of their iPhone 3G ads in UK to say "really fast" instead of "twice as fast" to avoid running into trouble again with U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority.

iPhone 3G ad (Everyone) on Apple's US website (Youtube video below) features an individual flicking through web pages on the iPhone 3G to a voiceover saying:

"Some people would like to surf the web twice as fast. Some people would like downloading stuff twice as fast. Some people would like finding their way twice as fast."

You can check the iPhone 3G ad in US below:

However, if you watch the same ad on Apple's UK website  (Youtube video below) you will notice that the wordings are different. It says:

"Some people would like to surfing the internet really fast. Some people would like downloading files really fast. Some people would like finding their way really fast."

You can check the iPhone 3G in UK ad below:

Based on the timestamp of the video posted on Youtube (Added: August 02, 2008)  the wordings don't seem to be a recent change. Therefore, Apple expecting problems probably changed the wordings of the iPhone 3G ads to avoid running into trouble again with U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority like, they had with a television ad that said "all the parts of the internet are on the phone" that got banned.

Interestingly some folks actually had raised concerns with the visual rather than the wordings. I frankly didn't think Apple was trying to mislead or set wrong expectations as the ad clearly stated that you can do most things "twice as fast" and not super fast with iPhone 3G which is a fact not just for the iPhone 3G but any 3G smart phone if you are on a reliable 3G network.

But I guess one needs to play by the rules of the land.

What do you think?
