iPhone 3G Contains Data Matrix Barcode
I thought we had seen everything there was to see; when folks at iFixit had disassembled iPhone 3G shortly after it was released. But, it appears, I was wrong.
An iPhone 3G user in Australia has stumbled upon a Data Matrix 2D barcode on the left side of the iPhone 3G's rear plastic clamshell while he was playing around with his camcorder's night-shot function (which can see through some materials).
fsjk85, an iPhone 3G user at the Australian Whirlpool forums, accidentally stumbled upon a Data Matrix 2D barcode on the left side of the iPhone 3G's rear plastic clamshell while playing around with his camcorder's night-shot function.
Engadget suspects that the barcode could have info embedded such as International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) which is often found on a sticker under a battery in case of most mobile phones.
You can check the screen shots below:
So if you have a camcorder with a night-shot function do give it a shot but don't be disappointed if you can't as only some night vision devices can see through thin materials.
If you have any information do let us know what the barcode contains in the comments below.
