iPhone 3G Contains Data Matrix Barcode

iPhone 3G Hidden Data Matrix 2D Barcode

I thought we had seen everything there was to see; when folks at iFixit had disassembled iPhone 3G shortly after it was released. But, it appears, I was wrong.

An iPhone 3G user in Australia has stumbled upon a Data Matrix 2D barcode on the left side of the iPhone 3G's rear plastic clamshell while he was playing around with his camcorder's night-shot function (which can see through some materials).

fsjk85, an iPhone 3G user at the Australian Whirlpool forums, accidentally stumbled upon a Data Matrix 2D barcode  on the left side of the iPhone 3G's rear plastic clamshell while playing around with his camcorder's night-shot function.

Engadget suspects that the barcode could have info embedded such as International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) which is often found on a sticker under a battery in case of most mobile phones.

You can check the screen shots below:

So if you have a camcorder with a night-shot function do give it a shot but don't be disappointed if you can't as only some night vision devices can see through thin materials.

If you have any information do let us know what the barcode contains in the comments below.

I don't think it is the IMEI. I work for AT&T and we have to use the imeis quite a bit and we found it written along the sim card tray of the iphone 3g.

Even I believe the same, may be we got to check this again across asia too

I am running iphone firmware 2.1 Jailbroken via pawnage tool for Mac. Today I got a chance to use the Percentage (%) operator and found out that it is not showing the results correctly for example if you want to calculate 10% of 100, the answer should be 10. But it is showing 0.1 !!! I counter checked it with 3 other iphones also on firmware 2.1 and jailbroken but the result is the same. Is there any fix for it?

….pssst…..don't tell anybody, but Azhar is an idiot. If you don't know how to do simple math operations on a calculator, you shouldn't be allowed to play with such a technologically advanced tool such as the internet. Seriously, trade your computer in for a picture book.

It is not an issue with the firmware, you donkey. In order to get 10% of 100, you have to type in 10 % * 100, and that will give you the 10 that you are looking for, try the following example.

Azar is only ten percent as smart as a normal person. Use iPhone calculator to figure out his capacity to do simple math operations.

No, matter how I do it, I come out with 10!!

I second Azar is an idiot

  6. Mr.Smokey says:

I'm not gonna bash on Azhar like y'all are but yeah, Azhar you did your math wrong 0.1 is 10% of 1 although on any calculator it's to my understanding that you would have to to do your percentage calculation last. So, by the previous person's example it should be flipped around and look as 100*10% which will then give you the answer you are seeking for.

  7. JJ says:

Wow this got off subject in a hurry.

  8. edward tenner says:

    azar = revenge effect.

    @'Azar is an idiot'
"No, matter how I do it, I come out with 10!!"

And by 10 you mean idiot
