Flash Could be Coming to the iPhone Soon; Depends on Apple's approval

We all love the iPhone, but the problem is that we love it so much that we want it to be perfect.

One of the features that would help make the iPhone perfect is support for Adobe's Flash and looks like we might see it soon as Paul Betlem, Sr. Director of Engineering at Adobe Systems, has just confirmed that Adobe is indeed developing a Flash Player for the iPhone during a Town Hall meeting at the Flash on the Beach Conference.

iPhone Firmware 2.2 Reveals Tweaks to App Store Application

iPhone Firmware 2.2 that was seeded to developers of the iPhone Developer program recently has already revealed a minor tweak to iPhone's Safari browser.

That's not the only change, developers are reporting that they have observed couple of changes to iPhone's App Store application shipping with the first beta version of iPhone firmware 2.2.

AptBackup Takes Backup of Jailbreak Apps

Whenever you upgrade to the latest firmware version there is no issue syncing the iPhone apps downloaded from the App Store as iTunes takes care of taking backups and syncing it for you after a firmware update.

However, in case of the jailbreak apps, the painful part of upgrading to the latest firmware is that you also need to start from scratch and reinstall all your favorite jailbreak iPhone apps one by one via the Installer app or Cydia.

AptBackup developed by Chris Featherstone is trying to address this problem, its a backup and restore solution for Cydia-installed iPhone applications.

Apple Rolls Out iPhone App Store Changes to Address Loopholes

Apple has made some changes to the way the listing and reviews of iPhone apps are handled in iTunes in an attempt to address loopholes that were being exploited by some developers.

Apple has addressed one of the concerns raised by iPhone developers where anyone was allowed to leave "Customer Reviews" for an app, even though they had not purchased it. This used to result in many complaints about the pricing rather than reviews of the iPhone apps.

PdaNet Turns your iPhone into a Wi-Fi Router

June Fabrics Technology has released their popular application for Window Mobile phones and Palm OS phones, PdaNet, for jailbroken iPhone.

PdaNet turns your iPhone into a Wi-Fi router for your MAC or PC, and allows your laptop to surf the internet wirelessly using your iPhone's 3G/Edge data connection.

PdaNet is similar to iPhone Apps such as iPhoneModem developed by Addition and Nullriver's NetShare which made a brief appearance on the App Store only to be banned by Apple possibily due to pressure from carriers like AT&T.

Apple's iTunes App Store has been a resounding success, Steve Jobs had reported during Apple's Special Event earlier in the month that more than 100 million iPhone Apps had been downloaded within two months of its launch.

You might have already read about some amazing success stories from iPhone developers.

However, with increasing competition, it is also becoming harder for developers to get their applications noticed. So some developers have started reducing prices to boost sales or to keep the momentum going.

Software Method to Unlock iPhone 3G Progress Report

The iPhone Dev Team have been working tirelessly since the iPhone has been launched to bring us the latest iPhone hacking tools. They have been successful in jailbreaking and unlocking the 1st generation iPhone and jailbreaking iPhone 3G as well.

However, they still have couple of challenges, the first one is the much awaited software method to unlock iPhone 3G and the more recent one is to jailbreak the 2nd generation iPod Touch.

iPhone Firmware 2.2 Reveals Tweak in iPhone Safari's User Interface

I had mentioned that Apple had not provided much information about the changes in the first beta version of iPhone firmware 2.2 (Build 9M2611) that was seeded to developers yesterday other than a note that it is for "compatibility testing".

However, iPhone Atlas has published a screen shot which reveals that iPhone Safari's user interface could get a tweak in iPhone firmware 2.2.

Apple Seeds 1st Beta of iPhone Firmware 2.2 For Compatibility Testing

Apple has seeded developers of its iPhone Developer program with the first beta version of iPhone firmware 2.2 (Build 9M2611).

Apple has not provided much information about the changes in the beta firmware other than a note that it is for "compatibility testing".
