If you are a Star Wars fan then here is some good news for you. The iPhone app PhoneSaber that was removed from the AppStore due to copyright claims by mobile Star Wars rights holder THQ Wireless will be re-launched soon under the name PhoneSaber "Unleashed".
THQ have confirmed to PocketGamer that the re-launch will coincide with the launch of the console game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
iPhone App, PhoneSaber has been developed by Alex and Duncan of TheMacBox, based out of Edinburgh, Scotland.
The description of PhoneSaber is mentioned below:
Ever wished you could swing your iPhone around like a lightsaber (the fictional weapon that plays a key role in the movies, games and novels that constitute the Star Wars universe)? Well now you can, with PhoneSaber.
As you swing your phone, a range of lightsaber sound effects will be
emitted from your phone’s speaker (or connected audio output). Not only
that, but you can also withdraw and put away your saber.
Last but not least, you can also change the colour of your lightsaber for maximum effect.
You can also see the Youtube video of the iPhone app in action below:
Its good to see that folks at TheMacBox were able to reach an ‘amicable’ settlement with THQ Wireless.
The developers tell us on their blog that as part of the settlement, they also get access to all the library of Star Wars sounds that they could never have used before.
However, though the iPhone App which will be available for free just like its previous version of the app which was removed from the App Store, it appears that the re-launch version will be used as a marketing tool for the launch of the console game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Some might call this a useless iPhone app, but we have been seen that some of the fun iPhone apps however, limited utility they might offer, have some entertainment value and are quite popular, like iLightr – Virtual Lighter from Ubermind (iTunes link here), Inc which costs $0.99 is one of Apple’s Staff favorites.
Whats your favorite fun iPhone app?
