iPhone Macro Lens Hack to Take Close-Up Photos is Easier

When I published the post about the iPhone hack by Daniel Forsythe that made it possible to take close-up photos using your iPhone yesterday, I had mentioned that it was not for the faint hearted.
Mike, one of our readers here at iPhone Hacks, reminded me that there was a much easier way to achieve this by attaching a macro lens to your iPhone.
The iPhone hack published by Daniel was definitely not for the faint hearted as it involved disassembling your iPhone, removing the camera, scrapping out some glue that holds the camera lens in place, and then re-focusing the camera by rotating the lens.
Blogger Colin Devroe had figured out a much easier way to take macro photos using the iPhone. As seen in the screen shot below he attached the lens from a dead digital camera to the back of his iPhone.
As you can see below he was able to take some really good close up photos using this hack.

Daniel also figured out a way to handle low-light situations as the iPhone doesn't have a built-in flash light. He mounted a small light to the iPhone which he had apparently picked up at last year's SXSW's keynote to function as a flash.
Mike who was quite impressed with the solution has also tried out the hack. You can see the screen shot of his setup below along with the close-up photo of V3 Razr logo as a sample.

The best part about this hack is it does not void your iPhone's warranty like the one Daniel had published.
Thanks Mike for the tip and for providing us with the links to the photos.
