QuickPwn v2.1 for iPhone Firmware 2.1 for Windows Users Released

The iPhone Dev Team had released the Pwnage Tool v2.1 and QuickPwn v1.1 to jailbreak and unlock the 1st Gen iPhone and jailbreak iPhone 3G running iPhone firmware 2.1 almost immediately after it was released by Apple last week. However, the tools were only for Mac users.

They have now released their QuickPwn v2.1 for Windows users that supports iPhone firmware 2.1.

The QuickPwn Tool is quite popular with iPhone users as it makes it quicker and easier to jailbreak iPhone as it does not need iTunes-based full restore.

The latest version of the QuickPwn v1.1 for Windows users can be used to jailbreak and unlock the 1st generation iPhone running firmware 2.1. It can also jailbreak iPhone 3G running iPhone firmware 2.1.

It cannot unlock iPhone 3G as of now nor can it jailbreak the 2nd generation iPod Touch that was released by Steve Jobs at Apple's Special event last week.

You can download QuickPwn from this download link or this link or this one.

Here is a step-by-step guide provided by Srini, one of our regular readers on how to use the tool:

1. Upgrade to iTunes 8.0.

2. Sync your iPhone with iTunes. Backup your data.

3. Download the 2.1 ipsw from this link

4. From iTunes 8.0, hold shift and hit restore.

5. After iTunes restores your phone with 2.1 firmware and comes up for activation, Launch Quickpwn2.1-1.

6. Select the installed 2.1 ipsw in the relevant screen.

7. Select the bootloaders and hit next.

8. Follow the instructions on Quickpwn and voila!!

Srini says:

"I did this and got my iphone 2G on 2.1 up and running in 20 mins flat!!"

If you are a Mac user, please do check this post for the latest information on the Pwnage and QuickPwn Tools that were released by the iPhone Dev Team last week.

Please don't forget to backup your iPhone before hacking your iPhone with the latest QuickPwn Tool.

As always, please do let us know how it goes.

Thanks a ton Srini for the instructions. Thanks Jacek and folks at Quick Pwn for tip.

you don't have to restore your phone if you already have 2.1 on your iPhone just use lunch quickpwn and it will jailbreak your phone that's it so you skipp the other steps. I done it and It works

  2. Fyta says:

I previously had used QuickPwn (on windows) on my 1st Gen iPhone with 2.0 software (unlocked and jailbroken).

For the update to 2.1 software, simply let iTunes 8.0 update the phone to 2.1. Afterwords, my phone was still unlocked, but no Cydia or Installer. Then I ran QuickPwn 2.1 to jailbreak, and viola, done.

    Hope this helps.

  3. T says:

slightly off topic but has anyone else only just noticed that you can save images in Safari…. Or has that been there for ages?

  4. Qohnn says:

    Works Perfectly =]

  5. observer365 says:

I have successfully upgrade to 2.1 and hoping everything should be okay. But I notice that backing up my iphone with iTunes still takes forever…any thoughts on this guys

  6. Omar says:

I updated my 2G with version 2.1 in itunes 8. I am having something crazy happen when I used the quickpwn for unlocking and jailbreaking cydia and installer. When I use the original sim that came with the iphone, I run the software and check unlock, cydia, and installer. I follow the prompts until it is successfully completed. Now when I put in my old ATT SIM Card (even before the cingular days), then it goes into the emergency screen, BUT my phone is unlocked and I can make calls using the emergency call. I see the carrier and signal strength, but I can't go into the main springboard screen with the contacts, sms, camera, mail, etc. When I lock the phone from the top, it shows the screen of the USB wire going to "itunes" written in text under a CD and Music symbol. However, when I put in the new ATT SIM card, I see the cydia and installer, but I can't dial because the SIM card doesn't have a phone line with it. I typed this problem up in google and I found a few people who had the same issue, but nobody addressed it. Kind of crazy. I would appreciate anyone that can help me with this.

  7. Hassan says:

Hey Omar why dont you try a custom firmware made by pwnage tool in Mac. Just grab that firmware and simply restore with itunes 8 hope that will work.

  8. Hassan says:

Hey Observer365, try the following method hopefully it will work for you, it worked for me and many others..

  9. Jas says:

Hi, my iphone is running 1.1.1 OS version, can I directly upgrade to 2.1 w/o going to 1.4 first? If the upgrade fails, how do i restore back to original settings?

    Thanks:)

  10. Victor says:

It worked without problems :) for details please check http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/

  13. abadalloyd says:

hi, i did this and it works, so great! thnks

  14. khpdata says:

I'm getting Application Error when I double click on QuickPwn.exe. The message reads – The application failed to initialize properly (c0000135). I thought its some Win XP problem and tried restarting my machine. But still the issue persists. Any light on this would be helpful for me to unlock my 2G iphone.

  15. Hassan says:

    Hi observer365,

I am glad that your problem is solved..

    Cheers…

  16. Ricky says:

Worked flawlessly for me (iPhone 2G: jailbreak + unlock).

  17. Dave says:

Worked great! so now im able to connect my laptop to the net via proxy again :D hehe

  18. J-C says:

I did the jailbreak with no problems. The problem is afterwards. How come all the apps I DL'ed from the App Store quit after 2secs whenever I start them, is there something to fix that? I did "Restore from backup…" (right-click in iTunes) and it did not fix the problem, help much appreciated!

  19. Blindly after successful tries with QuickPwn v2.1, I kept clicking restore in iTunes 8 which, of course, kills the unlock and jailbreak on my 2G. Finally I realized after jailbreaking, I had to check setup as a new iPhone, then later, right click the iPhone icon in iTunes 8 to get a "restore from backup" which worked just fine. Then had to setup and do a sync to get all working. Life is good. Just took me a while to get it right.

  20. J-C says:

I don't understand, how do you setup as a new iPhone? I have a 3G, don't think it changes the procedure much, and I don't care about unlocking.

  21. Anon says:

Will quickpwn remove all of my apps i have installed from cydia and installer?

  22. joeshmoe says:

Quit saying "please DO.." and "DO tell us…". That "do" is frickin annoying and makes you look like an uneducated fool. Just had to point that out after puttin up with it for so long on your site.

  23. david547 says:

Anyone else having trouble with the previously cracked ipa apps not working with itunes 8.0. I heard there is a workaround but haven't seen anything yet.

  24. kawikao says:

Just did this to a jailbroken First Gen iphone running 114
    Worked great
Maybe someone should update the imstructions,
Boot loaders were not included in quickpwn v2.1 and I had to find them.

    Dave

  25. Wagner says:

did it in less than 15 min… my iphone first gen is jailbroken and unlocked…..the only thing is that unlocked but i can't make the springboard works….i can make calls using the emergency keyboard ….

  26. Berthold says:

  31. Crusty says:

    Huge oversight on the instructions.

  32. PnOyMoDe says:

These firmwares are very useful. It can be jailbreak and unlock the first generation IPhone. When we update 2.1 software then iTune 8.0 automatically updates it means our phone is unlock.

  35. WAHUNKA says:

I have a new 3G phone running 2.1. I have tried a few times to use the Quickpwn applicaiton but each time after the last step of holding for 30 seconds, it loads so far and stops. the loading process starts around 20 seconds to go while holding it. I never see the DOS screen appear. I've hacked more then i can to remember, what the hell am i doing wrong?
