Last month Apple had issued a recall for the Ultracompact USB Power Adapter that were shipped with every iPhone 3G in the form of an exchange program.
Folks at MacMerc have disassembled one of those faulty Ultracompact USB Power Adapter to find out the reason that prompted the recall.

The iPhone Dev Team who had reported last week that they have cracked iPhone 3G's baseband and are getting closer to unlock iPhone 3G have published a customary post on their blog to tell us that they have managed to successfully jailbreak and unlock the first generation iPhone running iPhone firmware 2.2 Beta 2 which was recently seeded to developers of its iPhone Developer program.
iPhone firmware 2.2 is not yet available to iPhone users.
Softbank has announced that it will be selling a TV-Tuner card add-on for iPhone 3G later this year to address a widely-publicized feature omission for iPhone users in Japan.
The add-on TV-Tuner card will also serve as an extended battery pack for the iPhone.

Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, co-founder and CEO of Opera told New York Times in an interview that a version of Opera Mini developed for the iPhone was rejected by Apple from the App Store.
The iPhone version of Opera Mini would have been a direct competitor to iPhone's Safari browser.
It has been a while since we have last heard of an iPhone App getting rejected from the App Store.
AT&T has finally announced that they are offering free Wi-Fi access to iPhone users across the US at thousands of hotspots nationwide including Starbucks.
We had first heard about AT&T's plans to offer free Wi-Fi access to iPhone users back in May and then again in July, however at that time AT&T had told the New York Times that the information had leaked out on their website due to manual errors.
This time round AT&T has sent out an SMS message to iPhone users announcing the good news.
TUAW is reporting that they have received some screen shots from one of their readers of iPhone Firmware 2.2 which reveals that iPhone users will have the ability to download podcasts directly to their iPhone.

iPhone app developer, Errrick who had developed iSlsk, the first peer-to-peer (P2P) application for the jailbroken iPhone has released an updated version of the P2P Soulseek client for iPhone firmware 2.x and renamed it as MewSeek.
Along with MewSeek, Errrick has also released PwnPlayer, an alternative iPhone app to iPhone's iPod app which is required to listen to anything downloaded using MewSeek.

When we had heard of Earthscape's 3D Earth application, we had mentioned that it was the perfect application to take advantage of iPhone's accelerometer and touchscreen capabilities.
Unfortunately, we were so disappointed with the first version of their iPhone app that we neither bothered to review the iPhone app when it was released nor did we bother to check out if there were updates.
However, at that time we had also asked the question why didn't someone think of this before? The obvious answer to that question would have been Google to bring their Google Earth app to the iPhone and that's exactly what they have done by releasing Google Earth for iPhone.
