iPhoneHellas.gr claims that iPhone Firmware 2.2 will be released to iPhone users in 10 days on November 21st based on a reliable source.
iPhoneHellas.gr had previously revealed that Apple is planning to add a rating system for iPhone apps in the upcoming firmware update.
iPhoneHellas.gr is claiming that iPhone Firmware 2.2 will be released to iPhone users on November 21st based on a reliable source. Though we haven't heard anything reliable (or unreliable) from the site so far, Gizmodo describes them as "reliable".
Folks at iPhoneHellas.gr have also confirmed the features that iPhone firmware 2.2 Beta 2 and Beta 1 have revealed so far:
- Over-the-air podcast downloads direct to the iPhone
- Apple is planning to add a rating system for iPhone apps
- Google's Street View incuding walking and public transportation routes for directions
- Ability to turn off auto-correction
- Japanese Emoji Icons
- Tweaks to App Store Application
- Minor Tweak to iPhone Safari's browser
Apple had seeded its developers of the iPhone Developer program with the second beta version of iPhone Firmware 2.2 on Oct 24th, 2008.
If the news of the iPhone firmware 2.2 has got you worried on the iPhone Hacking front, then you may breathe easy as the iPhone Dev Team have confirmed that their Pwnage Tool works with iPhone firmware 2.2 (tested with the beta 2).

dang i was really hoping for push api's and actual turn by turn gps. i mean damn its not that hard is it?!?!?

apple wants you to wait for the copy and paste-so you could spend your money on apps and songs
to the person who wants mms if you jailbreak and unlock your iphone
swirlymms is a perfect mms app…but thats only if you jailbreak your iphone..and remeber you could always restore back to locked state
How about fixing the problem with fetching email(I have Gmail, email is check whenever the phone wants, no every 30 minutes 5 minutes)

How bout better customization to the lock screen? Would be cool to change how u lock/unlock the device. Instead of sliding, maybe the thing Google/Android done with the circles, or Firefox Mobile? i thought webcam support would be cool when using an MSN/Messenger client, either plug 1 into the serial port or use the built in cam, n u could use the plugged in cam for 3G calling, i dunno just ideas i would like

I agree!! Give us Copy & Paste, MMS, and ability to forward text messages. For those who don't understand the need for Copy & Paste, what happens when you receive a text message and you can't forward it to others? Or when you get an MMS and AT&T replaces it with a link, a long complex userID & password that requires you to write it down before you go retrieve the full message in Safari? Copy & paste is what's needed!

surely this is the number one criterion.. I just dont understand why this isnt being implemented its so frustrating, surely they could limit the memory used to do this so as not to crash the phone maybe to large text block?..

To redonculous: We're just after BASIC functions that should be well within the remit of apples dev team. Its ridiculous that MMS, copy paste and text forwarding are not functions on the iphone.
