When we had compared Apple's iPhone 3G with the so-called iPhone killer T-Mobile's G1 we had mentioned that one of the advantages G1 had over iPhone 3G was that it had a full QWERTY physical keyboard.
Looks like an iPhone Hacker was not too happy with that comment as he has taken his jailbroken iPhone and hacked it by wiring it up to a genuine physical keyboard.
As you will see in the video below, the iPhone hacker has taken his jailbroken iPhone and hacked it by wiring it up to a genuine physical keyboard using a custom cable.
Does the iPhone really need a physical keyboard?

It's a promising proof of concept. Just give me the ability to use Apple's bluetooth keyboard on the iPhone and I wouldn't even think of buying a netbook for writing on the go.
I believe that iphone does not really need a physical keyboard as it's big, and I would not want to carry that thing around where ever i go. IMO not a good one.
if you install veency from Cydia you can use your regular keyboard on the computer through wifi.
I think a portable, plug-in keyboard would be great
