Mobispine Offers Carriers a Branded version of their True MMS iPhone App

iPhone App - Mobispine

Mobispine, the developer of iPhone app, RSS News Reader has announced that they have developed an iPhone app which will bring the much awaited MMS feature to the iPhone.

Mobispine is offering a white-labeling solution to carriers where they will brand their true MMS application for each carrier and distribute it via the App Store so that they can deliver the MMS feature to their iPhone customers.

The iPhone developer says:

"We're confident that operators will find the service easy to use and profitable with an opportunity to expand messaging usage, improve subscriber retention and increase revenue. The service will also increase customer loyalty and recognition as the brand is displayed on the user's phone."

Mobispine will develop a custom iPhone app that is branded for each operator and distributed via the iPhone's App Store.

We had reported yesterday that the spokesperson of TeliaSonera Sweden had confirmed that they will be releasing an iPhone app which will bring Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) capabilities to the iPhone in the next two months.

The MMS feature has been surprisingly missing from iPhone's rich feature list since its launch. We have seen unofficial iPhone apps like SwirlyMMS that are available for the jailbroken iPhone or hack like this one that have brought MMS feature to the iPhone.

Another way to send picture messages is using iPhone app Flutter which is available on the App Store that allows users to send picture messages for free.

We are yet to see the demo of the iPhone app but the screenshots (above) give a glimpse of the apps user interface. Mobispine's white-labeling solution sounds quite interesting and could strike the right chord with iPhone carriers.

We will also need to wait and see if these carrier specific custom iPhone apps get approved by Apple.

Update (Nov 20, 2008):

As John Gruber of Daring Fireball points out, this is the MMS app TeliaSonera will be offering its users.

Tell us what do you think about Mobispine's MMS solution for the iPhone in the comments.
