SGN's iFun app Turns the iPhone into a Wii-like Controller

Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive and co-founder, in an interview with Wall Street Journal had recently commented:
“I think the iPhone and iPod touch may emerge as really viable devices in the mobile games market this holiday season.”
He seems to have got a glimpse of Social Gaming Network's (SGN) iFun iPhone app which turns the iPhone into a Wii-like controller while the actual games are played on the computer that was released yesterday.
You might have already played SGN’s free Wii-like iPhone games like iGolf, iBowl and iBaseball (iTunes link) which have been quite popular with iPhone users since the launch of the App Store.
They have released the iFun platform for the iPhone which is not a game but an iPhone app that turns the iPhone into a Wii-like controller while the actual games are played on the computer. They have started off by adding their Golf game to the iFun platform and plan to release other Wii-like games soon.
To start playing the game, you need to install iFun on your iPhone and also create an account on the iFun website. You then have to login to the website as well as to the iPhone app. Once connected, you can play golf using your iPhone like a Wii-like controller and watch it on your computer.
You have options to change the golf clubs and adjust your shot direction based on the wind direction on your iPhone.
Please be careful while playing games like Golf with your iPhone as an iPod Touch user who reviewed iGolf had commented:
"My daughter gave it a good swing, an the iPod Touch flew out of my 3rd story apartment window!"
It reminded me of the trauma Wii users faced with the Wii Remote slipping out of their hands before Nintendo added the Wii Remote Jacket to make it less slippery.
The iFun iPhone app is free, and you can download it using this iTunes link. SGN is hoping to generate revenues from users who get addicted to the game and want to access Premium Country Club or Silver Country which needs "Golf dollars" that can be bought by paying real dollars using PayPal.
SGN also plans to release an API for other developers to launch their games on iFun.
You can checkout the demo video of iFun below to get an overview:
I seemed to have problems getting the game to work (some syncing issue between my computer and iPhone 3G over Wi-Fi) but I just loved the concept of the game.
I have been quite skeptical about the iPhone as a mobile gaming device so far but innovative platforms like iFun will soon turn me into a believer.
As always, drop us a line in the comments to tell us whats your take on SGN's iFun iPhone app.
