DIY: Wooden iPhone 3G Dock – Neat and Green

Wooden iPhone 3G Dock

iPhone Hacks reader, Dan Long who makes custom cabinets in the San Francisco Bay Area has just sent us a link to a do-it-yourself project that he has been working on.

Its a simple iPhone dock made out of wood. So if you are looking for an iPhone dock but don't want to shell out $49 for it and have some carpentry skills then check out the photos after the break to find out how to make a wooden iPhone dock for yourself.

It looks quite neat and more importantly its green too.

Below is the brief description about his DIY project by Dan:

"This is a simple dock made from solid poplar and oak. Measure cuts for whichever ipod cable and or case that you want. 2 screws fasten the back piece to the front along with wood glue. The small blocks in back provide support for the base."

In some cases pictures say a thousand words, so checkout the photos of the wooden iPhone dock. (Dan was kind enough to arrange them in a sequence.)

If you like such do-it-yourself projects then you might want to checkout the DIY video of making a iPhone dock using binder clips.

These hand made iPhone docks can also be ideal gifts for your friends who are tech heads and green too.

Please don't forget to drop in a line in the comments to give Dan your feedback.

Thanks Dan for the tip.
