Dashboard Widgets coming to the iPhone

Irish iPhone developer, Steven Troughton-Smith who had figured out a way to enable Emoji icons on the iPhone using a simple hack (even if you aren't on Japan's SoftBank network) has revealed plans to bring the Dashboard to the iPhone which is supposed to work like Dashboard on a Mac; giving you easy access to your favorite widgets.

He has also released a video of his work-in-progress Dashboard app for the iPhone.

TV.com's iPhone App Allows to Stream Full Episodes of Popular TV Shows like CSI: Miami and Star Trek

Video streaming site TV.com has just released their iPhone app on the App Store which will allow you (if you are in US) to stream clips and full episodes of popular TV shows like CSI: Miami or the original Star Trek right to your iPhone over Wi-Fi, 3G, or even EDGE connections.

In addition to shows on CBS, you can also watch shows from other channels such as CNet, Showtime, and the CW.

Xumii's iPhone App Allows you to Connect with Friends on Multiple IM and Social Networks

When we reviewed BeejiveIM, an awesome Instant Messaging app for the iPhone, we had pointed out that BeejiveIM's ability to connect to multiple IM networks such as AIM/iChat/MobileMe, MSN/Windows Live, Yahoo!, MySpace, GoogleTalk, ICQ, & Jabber was very useful considering the limited resources on mobile phones like the iPhone.

Folks at Xumii sent an email to tell us that have just released their iPhone app that takes it a step further.

Xumii’s iPhone application allows you to connect to multiple networks such as AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, MSN, Facebook, MySpace, imeem and Flickr.

Preview Website Reveals More Details of Metal Gear Solid for iPhone; Disappointing?

When Konami announced that they will be releasing their stealth action video game Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns for the Patriots for the iPhone and iPod Touch on the App Store aptly called Metal Gear Solid Touch, I was very excited.

They recently launched a preview website for their upcoming iPhone game. Unfortunately after seeing the demo video of the game I was quite disappointed.

Mini vMac Ported to the iPhone; Allows you to Run Classic Mac Plus OS

Hacked iPhone paired with Bluetooth keyboard

If you thought only Windows 3.1 can be run on a mobile phone then you are mistaken. iPhone Hacker, Jesus Alvarez has recently ported Mini vMac; an open source Mac Plus emulator to the iPhone.

For the nostalgic Apple fanboys the news gets even better as you can also install and run the 4MB Classic Mac Plus OS on your jailbroken iPhone via Cydia.

Bluetooth Keyboard Paired with Hacked iPhone

iPhone expert Ralf Ackermann who had used an external bluetooth module to pair a standard keyboard to the iPhone is at it again.

He has managed to get Apple's Bluetooth keyboard (can be any Bluetooth keyboard) to pair with a hacked iPhone without any external Bluetooth module.

When I first saw the $15.99 price tag of BeejiveIM, I felt it was expensive especially since I have been spoilt by free instant messengers on the computer.

But I decided to check it out as I had liked the web version of BeejiveIM.

iPhone Developer, KennyTM has released another jailbreak app on Cydia for jailbroken iPhone users which adds another row (a 5th row) to iPhone's virtual keyboard.

The jailbreak app is aptly called 5-Row QWERTY Keyboard.

KennyTM is the developer of one of our favorite jailbreak app hClipboard, which in our opinion is the best "Copy and Paste" solution for the iPhone.

I really like the auto-correct feature of the iPhone. In my opinion it wouldn't have been convenient to use iPhone's revolutionary virtual keyboard if it wasn't for the auto-correct feature.

But there are times when you are tying a lot of slang or text in another language; you don't want the auto-correct feature to kick in.
