More Details about Apple’s New iPhone Leaked?

Based on Phil Schiller's, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing statement to David Pogue of New York Times at Macworld 2009, it was quite obvious that Apple would be releasing their new iPhone in June.

Since Apple previewed iPhone firmware 3.0; there has been a flood of rumors about Apple's next generation iPhone.

Boy Genius Report is claiming that their source "pretty high up in AT&T's food chain" has given them some more details about Apple's new iPhone which are “100% confirmed”.

BGR's source gave them the following details about Apple's new iPhone:

  • New iPhone announcement around mid-June
  • New iPhone will be faster and have a more seamless experience unmatched by any device
  • U-Verse iPhone application; will allow control of your home DVR (play, pause, rewind, etc.)
  • The annual iPhone launch is "becoming a tradition."
  • Nothing official is being confirmed, but they said that people should prep for an exciting time this summer.
  • Apple's 3.0 software should tell us where the iPhone platform is going.
  • They said customers shouldn’t need to choose from AT&T's high-end devices because of features, they should choose based on preferences. The gap in capability should be filled with the new iPhone.
  • Seems like the higher speed HSDPA (7.2Mbps) is being hinted at too which should confirm the earlier rumors of the new Infineon chipset.

Other than the new U-Verse iPhone app (which we had heard about last year), most of the details about Apple's next generation iPhone seem to be in line with the rumors we have heard.

I have already made up my mind to upgrade to the new iPhone if these rumors turn out to be correct and all these features make it to the official feature list of the next generation iPhone.

How about you?

The news just keeps getting better and better! I'm glad I waited and stayed with my 2g and not buying a 3g. Definitely gonna buy the new one. And what is the new iphone going to be called anyhow??

  4. marcus says:

yep i also hope that the upgrade is 200 dollars cause i will definitely snag it, especially when its jailbroken

  5. ben says:

    U-Verse support.. FINALLY

  6. geogo3r says:

Any idea if the new iPhone will support 4G? I'll be a little mad if AT&T upgrades to 4G in the near future and the new iPhone doesn't support it.

I see you posting on every topic which is good to see you active but in a past post, they stated that they cant do 4g because they still need to fix 3g. So if anything IT WONT be for the next iPhone. Maybe in a later iPhone.

  8. Egypt says:

Anyone know if we can trade in our iPhone 3g's for the new iPhone? Im pretty sure that they did that last year for 2g to 3g i hope its the same this year. I want more megapixels and processors

  9. thapaamit2002@aol.com says:

In my opinion also there is no way at&t gonna upgrade to 4g as there are still many cities out of 3g network like my city dothan Alabama where there is no 3g network but i still have to pay same fee that's $30 which sucks. i only upgraded my 2g to 3g bcoz. my wife wants an iphone too so i gave her the 2g without data plan.

  10. geogo3r says:

I believe I read that article and I saw that although AT&T could upgrade to 4G they,
    1. Believed it wasn't economically feasible to do so
    2. Hadn't perfected their current 3G.

And I'm just talking about the iphone being capable of handling the 4G band, because although it would be nice to think it could be dealt with through firmware I believe it requires a completely different band to pick up 4G connections

  11. geogo3r says:

If you'd read on a previous post (just have to poke a little fun at you egypt ;) )
    You'd see that there's an article on where you can get the best trade in values for your old iPhone. AT&T will have a tradeback/upgrade program that I believe is being implemented now where you can trade back your old iPhone and put the money it's worth towards the purchase of the next version. The amount of money you receive towards the upgrade is determined by a few factors;
    1. Storage Size
    2. Condition

  12. Egypt says:

Yes i do rember the post about selling it now but i wouldnt want to do that because i still have a contract on it =D. So your saying the tradeback is a for sure thing? I hope so because i just want an upgraded iPhone. i Have a 16gb white iPhone and its in very good condition considering the little scratch's on the chrome. O how i despise the easiness of scratch's on the chrome…

  13. Geogo3r says:

I still have a contract as well so we'll have to see what happens!

  14. king@king.com says:

As much as I would love to have the new Iphone I refuse to go to AT&T especially when they require you have they're data plan and crappy reception for two years. I'll stick with my unlocked 3g until I use the new one for t-mobile

  15. I'm extremely happy with my 3G, and similar phone with better performance,camera,..etc doesn't warrant an upgrade in my eyes, unless of course, Apple release another total game changing phone. Sorry to be the party spoiler, but I real have to justify to myself why to move to another phone, otherwise, what I have does everything I've ever dreamed for ;-)

  16. Justin says:

Does anyone know if the new iPhone is coming to Canada?

  17. iPhoneHacks says:

If the new iPhone is released then it will be available everywhere.

  18. Davfster says:

    3G . . . . 4core

  19. jttechs says:

they said in the article it supports hspda which IS 4G!!! so shut up every1 god…
