I have always wondered what would Apple call its third generation iPhone.
I might have just got an answer to that question as TUAW is reporting that they have got an anonymous tip that Apple’s new iPhone will be called iPhone Video.
The tipster has also sent them a screenshot of an unpublished version of AT&T’s support website which reveals an item called “iPhone Video”.
The screenshot below shows a drop-down menu of iPhone models which has “iPhone Video” as one of the models along with “iPhone 3G.”
We have heard rumors which suggest that recording videos will be the next big thing in Apple's new iPhone and have also heard a rumor that Apple might release a new iPhone model with video calling feature.
So if these rumors turn out to be true then iPhone Video would be quite apt for Apple’s third generation iPhone.
What do you think? What would you name Apple’s next generation iPhone?

i would call it the "iPhone 3G" honestly
and the slogan would be something like,
"not only is it an iPhone, it's a you-phone"
then the corresponding image would show a hand holding the device and a picture of a friend and in the lower corner would be the video of the current user.

Im not digging iPhone Video. Just leave it as iPhone 3G or go back to iPhone.
I would call it iPhone 3G+ or iPhone 3g Pro or "iPhone better have full bluetooth or ima kill Apple for being retarded".
I hate the fact i was excited for the 3g and found it didnt have the things my Motorola v550 had. That is just sad. Can someone please remind me whats gonna happen {what should i do) if i wanna trade in my 3g for the "iPhone 3g"?

iPhone video seems reasonable. However I would have kept the iPhone name just as it was "iPhone" and in order to distinguish all of them I would have named versions iPhone edge(iPhone 1.0), iPhone 3g(iPhone 2.0) and iPhone video(3.0), as I think that everytime apple introduces a new iPhone they will introduce a new software version i.e 1.0, 2.0, 3.0.
Personally I think it would be nice if they used names that let you know what Generation of iphone you have.
iPhone Gen 1, iPhone Gen 2, iPhone Gen 3… they did the same confusing naming with the ipods… I dont know, maybe its better marketing this way.

I agree. I don't see the point of having to change it's name every year just because they add a couple new chips. They may end up spending more time thinking of names than actual ideas for the new iPhones. Unless they release different models, they should stick to numbers. Maybe even Roman numerals if you want to get fancy.
Me would call it iPhone 4G 'cause it should work with next generation carrier network speed.

I'm totally for that name too! Hey and if you can get major metro areas to access 4g networks like the SF Bay Area I could dig the name but if I'll have to wait 2 years then the name is a no go.
i would call it iphone 3g only, adding just the video recorder does no mean VIDEO has to be included in name. Moreover pple with jail broken iphone already had cycorder which could record video. If however it allows video chat then i would probably call if iphone with isight.
What about "iphone copy+paste" since that is the new feature more people might end up using.
