Rumor: Leaked Photos of New iPhone?

SpazioCellulare, an Italian website, has reported that they have received photos from an anonymous tipster who is claiming are of Apple’s new iPhone.
If the site is to be believed then we could be looking at photos of yet-to-be-released iPhone.
The images highlight some interesting details:
Additional slot at the top: In addition to the slot for the ear speakerphone, the first image shows another wider slot at the top of the face. Wonder what that is for?
Headset jack: If you look at the top-left corner of the first photo, you will notice that there is no slot for the headset jack.
And based on the second one, it looks like the jack has been moved to the bottom. This position would make it closer to the iPod Touch.
Camera shutter: There seems to be an additional button at the bottom right of the case, which could be for camera shutter.

Frankly, I’m quite skeptical about these photos as they seem to be screenshots from a website rather than actual photos of the new iPhone.
But based on all the rumors that we have heard, one thing seems to be quite clear, Apple’s third generation iPhone, which might be called iPhone Video will only have some minor changes in appearance as compared to iPhone 3G.
Update:
As our great readers have pointed out, here is some more evidence that the photos are fake:
- Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone bundled with iPhone OS 3.0. The iPhone in the image doesn't seem to be running iPhone OS 3.0 as:
- The voice memos app is missing from the home screen.
- The SMS app has been renamed to Messages app as it will support both SMS and MMS. In the image, it still says SMS.
- Reader Monstermac also points out that: "If the headset jack is at the bottom, where would they put the microphone? I know they might want to make the iPhone look like the ipod touch, but the iPhone is a phone, the ipod touch is not."
- Some readers also point out that it is unlikely that Apple will add more buttons.
Awesome stuff folks!!! Thanks for your great feedback.
Are you looking forward to a radically different third generation iPhone, or you would be more than happy with changes under the hood? I would love to know your thoughts in the comment section below.
