‘Fit Or Fugly’ iPhone App Tells How Attractive You Are

FitOrFugly iPhone app measures facial attractiveness

Beauty is skin deep and all you need to measure it is an iPhone app

If you have always been curious to know how attractive you actually look, here is an iPhone app that might be able to finally declare whether you are attractive or not.

Developed by teenage iPhone app developer Ed Nash, the iPhone app 'Fit or Fugly' measures attractiveness based on the premise that it is a factor directly related to the symmetry of the face. With help from Fibonacci Golden ratio principles, the app calculates the symmetry of the face and hence tells you whether you are 'fit' or 'fugly'.

To use the app, one needs to upload a picture and mark the key anchor points like the nose, eyes, ears, mouth and chin and then the app would calculate how symmetric your face is. But here's the problem - Your facial symmetry as measured by the app gets distorted with even a slight tilt of the face towards the left or right. This means that a smashing side pose of yours would return a fugly rating while the nerdy looking front pose could be labelled fit.

Anyway, this app is meant to be more for fun rather than any scientific analysis and we think it does a good job on this aspect. Emphasizing on the entertainment value of the app, Ed Nash says

"The app itself is seriously funny and I really am expecting it to be a chart topper, certainly in the entertainment category. It is the first of its kind and uses some of the iPhone’s best features to give you an amazingly enjoyable experience which costs as little as a can of coke"

The iPhone app is available for $0.99 and you may purchase it from the App Store by clicking on this link. Please don't forget to tell us how you find the app - fit or fugly?

I'll waste my money on a can of Coke thanks, at least I'll get value for money then.

Yes, I'm Fugly, don't need an app for that, any reflection can confirm that :-)

i wish people would stop making apps that only work with the os software, some people haven't upgraded to the iphone 3GS and many haven't and probably never will upgrade to the OS software…….!!!!!!

How can we believe this is anything more than a random number generator. The creator of the application doesn't even know what the Golden Ratio is yet are claiming to be using if for the ratings. The Golden ratio has NOTHING to do with symmetry. I think Ed Nash needs to go back and finish high school.
