Early last month, there were rumors about AT&T launching an 8GB iPhone 3GS model at $99 for the Christmas season in order to effectively tackle the competition from Droid.
While the launch never happened, the rumor doesn't seem to be completely false either.
A German user who had recently ordered an 8GB iPhone 3G model had apparently received the handset with packaging that suggested that an 8GB iPhone 3GS was on the cards. The label reads "MB490DN/A iPhone 3GS v2.2, 8GB".
Assuming that this is not a Photoshop prank played by the user, is the incorrect labelling merely a typo and so can be dismissed, or is this actually a case of labels getting mixed up? At the moment, either seems possible. This is because while the label does read 'iPhone 3GS', the model number "A1241" and part number "MB490DN/A" both point to the older iPhone 3G model.
Do you think Apple will start selling the 8GB iPhone model in early 2010 rather than in June when they are expected to launch the next generation iPhone? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
