Apple’s Official iPad Video Reveals Support for Flash?

Flash coming to iPad

The lack of support for Flash on the iPad was revealed while Steve Jobs was giving a demo of their latest creation at the media event on Wednesday

But folks at 9to5Mac think they have every reason to believe that the iPad could in fact be coming with Flash installed. This is based on the official iPad video released by Apple on their iPad microsite.

The video, which is embedded below shows the New York Times being accessed from the iPad. What is interesting is that two sections of the NY Times website - Travel and Video are built on Flash. Despite this, the iPad demoed on the video does not show any difficulty in rendering Flash. While it is possible that the video was tweaked to help market the device better, 9to5Mac argues otherwise. They write:

"Normally, we'd say that Apple simply did the renders in the Mac version of Safari and just CG'ed it into the video.
However, you can see the page rendering and being resolution independent as well, so it is likely being done on an iPad.   Note the iPad simulator in Dev Tools also doesn't render Flash."

While we are skeptical about it at this point, it would still be interesting if the iPad indeed comes with Flash. While Steve Jobs did not confirm the availability of software, he did not deny it either and that makes it all the more intriguing.

What do you think? Will iPad come with Flash support? What do you infer from the video? Please do tell us your thoughts.

    If it comes out on the ipad, it better be in the 4.0 update for iPhones/iPod touch!!!!

    personally, I would like a polished version of the app store, ability to control iPhone row's (and sizes), universal landscape, and backgrounds behind the apps in iPhone 4.0! I would also like to see pictures in the contacts list, speed enhancements (such as safari), flash support, and 1st gen iPhone and touch dumps so that the cpu can be optimized better for our devices (like snow leopard did to the power pc's)!

    doubt its true. Even adobe responded to no flash on it.

    flash is sucks

    @Kevin

    The first gen's were not a different architecture, thus there would be no speed improvement.

    There are different versions of software for every iphone/ipod version, thus there would be no size improvement either.

    It would, however, piss everyone off, thus apple may do it.

    I think people are going to crazy over this money maker. It probably will not come with flash support initially, but may become available in future updates. Apple also messed up by not making it open source, not providing it with video chatting capabilities, and not making it connect to external devices such as DVD players. I personally say it falls short of what it ideally should be. Regardless, it's a cool lookin gadget.

    Apple IT IS TIME to put Flash support on all of your mobile devices. Please respect Apple devices users wishes.
