Over the past few days, we have had several "inside sources" and a few other prominent people like the ex-President of Google China who have talked about the imminent launch of the Apple Tablet and have also revealed a bit about its specifications.
But none of this would come close to a recent disclosure by France Télécom / Orange Vice President, Stephane Richard.
In an interview today morning to a French radio station Europe1, Richard confirmed the journalists' doubts that the Apple Tablet was indeed coming very soon. He also went ahead to confirm that the Tablet would come equipped with a webcam. Here is the complete transcript of the discussion as translated by TechCrunch:
"Jean-Pierre Elkabbach: According to weekly Le Point, in a couple of days Apple will be launching its tablet computer …
Stéphane Richard: Yes.
Jean-Pierre Elkabbach: … equipped with a webcam.
Stéphane Richard: Yes.
Jean-Pierre Elkabbach: Are Orange customers going to be able to enjoy it?
Stéphane Richard: Of course!"
As our readers would know, Orange is among Apple's most important partners and offers the iPhone in close to 28 countries. That being the case, it is pretty likely that Apple has the top brass from Orange in the loop regarding the launch dates and features of the Apple Tablet. That being said, a webcam on the Tablet is not particularly revolutionary. However, corroborating this with other features that are being speculated to be present in the Tablet, it is becoming increasingly clear that Apple is looking at the Tablet as a way to compliment if not substitute the MacBook.
Here is the video of the conversation:

I don't care about this. My macbook pro battery lasts about 8-10 hours, 5 if I'm going some heavy work. My iPhone 3gs is great, I love it. Why should I care about the tablet? I can do everything that it can do already…
you are right jdm!!
im agree
Wait and see
You are fools if you say you don't want this! Since the release of the first iphone, I knew this was the next logical step, and I've looked forward to it's release ever since. As much as I hate sounding like the many corporate fanboys around here, I truly feel that Apple is going to dazzle the hell out of us and really usher in a new way of personal computing with this thing. I mean it's Star Trek: TNG technology today. As a kid, I never would have thought that would be possible in 20 years. I mean there will be issues with the first Gen model, but nothing a little hacking and/or OS upgrades won't fix.
I'll be the first to buy one…………………..
………………… used off craigslist or from a pawn shop… heh.
