The iPad is just a few weeks away from launch and we cannot wait to lay our hands on one of the devices ourselves.
Folks at 9to5Mac have gathered some nice tidbits about the various features in the iPad after digging into iPhone OS 3.2 SDK and iPad's simulator. Check them out along with the screenshots below.
Settings:
iPad has some more options in the Settings app than the iPhone such as File Sharing and Accessibility.

YouTube Videos:
YouTube videos can be played from the website and the rendering is in HTML5, which looks pretty neat as you can see from the screenshot below.

Battery Percentage Indicator:
You have the option to see the battery level also in percentage just like iPhone 3GS.

File Sharing:
Another interesting feature that we have already heard about is the ability to transfer files to and from the iPad. Users may turn this feature on or off as required.

Lock Screen Media Controls:
With the iPad, media control options like Play and rewind are operable even while the screen itself is locked.

Lock Screen Photo frame access:
The Digital picture frame can be accessed from your lock screen that will display images from your Photos app.

Safari Quicktime player:
Here is a screenshot of how the Quicktime player will play audio files on iPad's Safari browser.

Google Suggest on Safari:
Users typing search queries from the Google search box on the Safari browser will be shown up to ten keyword suggestions.

Chinese Character Recognition:
The nifty character recognition software that users may employ to input text.

Home Screen web clip icons:
Webpage bookmarks on the iPhone have the usual rounded edges. On the iPad though, these bookmarks on the HomeScreen are indicated by squared icons as you can see below.
Apple is expected to launch iPhone OS 4.0 in the next couple of months. It will be interesting to see if features like File Sharing and character recognition come to the iPhone as well. What do you think?

The iPhone already has some of this. Handwriting recognition for Chinese input, the battery percentage indicator, and iPod controls on the lock screen (double tap the home button) are all available on my 3GS today.
is this what they call innovation?
Not impressed by this device at all. I don't think I would buy this.
bill has no bill
Yes I have no bill, but i also said the same thing about the iphone 2 years ago and look at me now!
"we cannot wait to lay our hands on one of the devices ourselves" You already have this in your hands, your iPhone or iTouch. Nothing new here…I'll wait for the iPad Nano (a.k.a. iPhone 4G)
i want one! have to get one in a few weeks when possible… perhaps on ebay?
Any idea whether one can tether the Iphone to the Ipad for internet access away from wifi
