There have been plenty of rumors in the past few weeks that have indicated a possible presence of a front facing camera in future generations of the iPad. Earlier this month, folks at a repair company revealed the presence of a dedicated camera slot in the iPad's metal frame which hinted at a forward facing camera.
Following yesterday's release of the beta 3 version of iPhone OS 3.2 SDK (which was later pulled back) where further support for an iPad camera was revealed, now there are fresh evidences that not just point towards an iPad camera but also suggest the possibility of the camera coming with flash and zooming capabilities. Apple's private camera framework in the latest version of the iPad SDK reveals these additional camera characteristics.
Folks at MacRumors claim that this particular piece of code is part of an API support that will check if the iPad supports a front facing camera, flash and zoom. However, separate variable declarations for each of these different parameters makes us wonder if features such as zoom and flash could be available in next generation of iPad.
Meanwhile, folks at 9to5Mac have unearthed icons from the latest release of iPad SDK that reveal support for video chat in future iPads.

If they do decide to sell the ipad with a front camera I will buy. Other than that I will wait for the new iPhone. If the new iPhone doesn't have a front facing cam or doesn't blow the water out the compitition. I'm gone out of apples world.

Hmmm…Apple's thought process: "let's release the ipad w/no camera and other great features and see how many people will buy it. Then, we'll release a newer version w/camera and see how many from the first group also buy a 2nd ipad just for the camera."
People did it with the iphone time and time again, I'm sure they will do it with multiple versions of the ipad. Just watch.
