Final Fantasy, the earliest of role playing games that first launched way back in 1987 and has made through several sequels since then has finally made it to the iPhone.
Square Enix, the developer of the popular game series, which is considered to be among the most successful RPG applications ever has now released the original edition as well as Final Fantasy II iPhone games on the App Store.
The iPhone games are pretty much similar to the gaming console versions though the levels are much shorter and difficulty levels has been reduced. The Final Fantasy I edition comes with a rich graphics and soundtrack experience. In addition to what is available on the console version, this iPhone game also contains bonus dungeons like "the Soul of Chaos" and "Labyrinth of Time".
Final Fantasy II on the other hand comes with improved ways to level up the characters. Unlike Final Fantasy I, the second edition lets your character to level up by acquiring certain abilities instead of merely gathering experience. Also, this edition offers added interactivity among the in-game characters, new character rotation and additional vehicles. This is also the version where users get to ride on the Chocobo bird to avoid enemy encounters.
On the iPhone, the Final Fantasy series has also undergone a few customized changes. The control for character movement is via an on-screen D-Pad. Also, menu options like attack, cast spell, etc. for battles are arranged at the bottom of the screen as a row of icons. Using these icons is pretty intuitive and the player only has to touch the target and follow the various menu options.
Both Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II iPhone games can now be purchased on the App Store for $8.99 each. We are sure there are a lot of Final Fantasy fans amongst our readers so if you try the iPhone games then please let us if you like them.

First. And btw freaking incredible. Already played seven hours over the past day.
AWESOME! Keep them comin SquareEnix! PleasE!
hope they make FF III on iphone…classic!
Is it story line based so that its worth buying 1 and 2 or is it better to just skip to FF II for the improved …well every thing
Umm not to sound bad, but "improved" isn't what I'd call FF2… not by a long shot…
And it's not REALLY story based, so can go from 1-2 or 2-1 doesn't affect it…
