If you are an iPhone 3GS user who has accidentally upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1.3 as you weren’t aware of the warning given by the iPhone Dev Team to avoid upgrading to iPhone OS 3.1.3 then there is some more bad news.
Folks at BigBoss are reporting that iPhone 3GS users who had accidentally upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1.3 can’t downgrade to iPhone OS 3.1.2.
To restore an iPhone 3GS, you need a signed firmware file. Folks at BigBoss are reporting that Apple has stopped signing iPhone OS 3.1.2 from today, which means that iPhone 3GS users cannot restore using iPhone 3.1.2 or older firmware files. They can only restore using iPhone 3.1.3 firmware file.
According to them:
That means those of you 3gs or iPod Touch 3 users that did not rush out and store your TSS in Cydia or Rock are screwed and cannot restore anything but 3.1.3.
If you are a jailbreak user running a 3gs or ipod touch 3 (or later generation ipod touch 2) that has not stored the TSS in cydia, you should be very careful with what you do from now until the next jailbroken firmware. You will want to be careful in what you install to make sure you don’t have to restore for any reason. It would be a good idea to install open SSH and learn how to use it so that you can get in and fix any problems without a restore, also.
iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G users don’t need to worry as they don’t need signed firmware files.
iPhone 3GS users will now have to wait for iPhone Dev Team or Geohot to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3.
We’ll let you know as soon as we have any further updates.

fuck
This is Fucked!!!!
apple people are faggs!!!!
sorry!!! i mean apple employee are faggs for putting us in this miss
Should of backed up your file on cydia!!
Im glad i did!
Hello Cat, meet Mouse. Let the games begin.
Ok. I backed up my TSS file on cydia back when I was running 3.0. Does this mean I can restore to 3.1.2? If yes what do I do to get the iPhone to activate after restoring?
The last line should have said… iPhone 3GS users will now have to wait for iPhone Dev Team, Geohot or someone else to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3.
So what about Saurik's SHSH system? Will it work?
Backed up my keys to cydia but sever says nothin there and that's bs cuz I paid for some of the apps on there….also I think crapple crashed my iPhone cuz it was in f-n sleep and wa frozen and tried everything to get it booted up without iTunes with no luck….cydia workin for crapple since I got screwed by both?!?!?!
And FYI I have had more f-n crashed with 3.1.3 in a day then I ever had with 3.1.2….pos
Fxxx, thank god i had files on Cydia too, damn it, Apple, get me the Flash, get me the Multitasking, get me the Backgroud changes, >_<
fcking rotten apple……..
My next smart phone will be a nexus one (or better). I'm tired of this game.
Apple's tight integration across the product line is becoming a liability.
It's kind of fun, in a morbid way, to watch Apple "Sony" themselves right into the ground. Remember the walkman? If you're under 30, probably not so much.
I'll hitch my long term ride to Google. People are scared of them, but people don't hate them. People hate Apple. And this kind of shit is why.
I'm still in iPhone 3gs 32 gigs jailbroken/unlocked. Fuck the updates.
I meant I was still on firmware 3.0*
Don't fret people! the new iphone w/be jailbroken soon.. and face it..we hate/love Apple.
I have my TSS in Cydia. And have a cracked 3.1.2 OS file. How do I restore my iPhone 3GS 'MB' model? Up until now, I just fire up iTunes, press Shift+Restore and point to the cracked file. Will do the same thing now?
Cydia once asked me to do something so I did ( dunno what but I sort of trust Saurik aka J. F)
my 3Gs now says : this device now has SHSH on file
I have no clue what this means or how to access the backup stored on SaurikIT servers
anyone help me out on this, I don't need it (yet) as I refuse to update until a proven jailbreak comes out, but would be nice to know
thanks in advance
ya how do i get my cracked signed deal? cuz mines stored. and i have 3.0.1 so can i update to 3.1.2 with a jailbreak program?
Also read that George Hotz isn't planning on re-working Blackra1n for 3.1.3, but with 4.0 not far away (guessing here) i bet he's saving the injection vector for a major update.
Loosing my JB & JBapps for a minor update just doesn't appeal to me at all
****This post is false, You can rollback using this hosts file fix, i found on the Internet****

I just did it a few minutes ago…
Sorry my friend, but that post refers to 3.1 back to 3.0 & the majority of 3Gs'scame out with the newer bootloader, 3.1.2 preloaded with upgraded baseband so a rollback for me following those instructions just isn't going to work.
Thanks for looking though
@K-Train look here http://www.saurik.com/id/12#howto
Did somebody tried it? How works to unlock after jailbroke?
DSG….Owe you a cold one my friend
wht the mess…
completely fuked up..!! I got it unlocked n hardly used it for 1 day n this mess…
Whats this whole "backup TSS in cydia" talk? What is it? How is it done? What are it's benefits?
FOR SOME REASON APPLE MUST RELEASED 3.13 FOR GOOD NOT FOR BAD TO MAJORITY UPGRADE MEANS FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE NOT FOR DIS ADVANTAGES
i think apple wants to make money again they are not giving good impactto peole they are just making money
No probs
Dear Friends i really need your help as now i am in deep mess. my iphone crashed & now am not able to restore.
My Iphone Details :
Iphone 3GS (New Bootrom)
Firmware : 3.1.2
Baseband: 5.11.07
Jailbroken/Unlocked : Blackra1n
I don’t have the shsh file but have written down my ECID
Today i downloaded some keyboard from cydia & it asked me to reboot the device, which i did and since then i got stuck on to The Restore screen.
Methods Tried:
Redsnow 0.9.2 & 0.9.3: Gets stuck on the screen which says “downloading the jailbreak” & a something at the bottom keeps circling & later restarts n goes back to the Restore Screen.
Blackra1n : Image of that guy comes on the screen & stay there for few minutes & again restarts & goes back to the restore screen.
Pwntool 3.1.4 & 3.1.5 : after creating the custom firmware ask’s me to connect my device through USB, which i tried tried tried but it didn’t work..(I tried the DFU mode = Fail)
Itunes 9.0.4: Tried to restore by downloading the firmware from iclarified and tried doing it through the Shift Button method but i could not restore got an error msg “ iphone not eligible for this bundle” (tried to restore both in DFU mode & normal restore mode”).
Finally i tried the method of creating a localhost server thing (umbrella & tinytss) but didn’t succeed, as while restoring in itunes it gives me error msg (1601 (DFU Mode), 3001 (Normal Restore)). i get these error msges after “ verifying from apple server” but it takes about 3-4 mins before displaying the error msg.
I am really tensed , please please help me.
Thanks in advance
Future_Rulz
alright mate, i want you to turn off your iphone, do it the normal way or do a soft reset until the screen turns off then release.
now hold down the home button for a few seconds, then connect it to your mac/pc by connecting the usb, and keep holding down that home button.
when you connect the iphone it should light up as per usual, then after a while, the recovery mode screen should come up. i was holding my home button the whole way through to this point until itunes prompted me with the "detected and iphone in recovery mode" message
you should then be able to hit restore and it SHOULD begin to restore your iphone with iphone os 3.1.3 or whatever apple certified os you have available
i hope that solves your problem.
I've got the same problem(after a reboot today it stucked)I've tried the same methods as you(same iphone 3GS 07.11.05..)Did you find any solution???thank you all
PS:I NEVER updated to 3.1.3
Yo Dan, I have a jailbroken iPhone 3gs, how do you back up your files through cidia?
After 10 hours of going back and forth between windows 7 and snow leopard I somehow got my 3GS to downgrade to 3.1.2. Dont ask me how but I went through a series of things like getting it to downgrade but then no service or to a point where I could not get in DFU mode etc. But I know that I am once agin back to 3.1.2 jailbroken and am very happy because who can use an iphone without sbsettings LOL greatest thing about jailbreaking!!! If I can help anyone let me know.
Hi Will,
well can u teach me how u did it? i have that same problem like Future, and i need help…!!!
Hi, I have exactly the same problem Moishe and Future. Has anyone figured a way to restore 3.1.2 to 3.1.2 without SHSH file?
I have an Iphone 3gs, and its already 3.1.2 and jailbroken with blackrain but the problem is that everytime my phone dies or if i turn it off completly, then my phone goes into the mode where it says connect to itunes and i have to wait till i get home and jailbreak it again then it works. CAN anybody please tell me whats wrong with it or what i can do?
That's normal, it's a tethered jailbreak. Don't like it? Un-jailbreak the phone.
Congratulations Apple, you now officially suck.

And finally, the iPhone 3Gs. The reason why, Apple has officially jumped the shark.
Apple, in their quest for World domination, had decided that it would be a good idea to force the installed base of iPhone users into the 3.1.3 firmware. The purpose of the fw upgrade is for the sole task, of crippling jailbroken iphones. Nothing else.
If your iPhone should happen to require a reinstall of the 3.1.2 fw (as mine did), well then my friend, you’re SOL. Or are you?
My FW had to be reinstalled after I (thoughtlessly) did a “reset network settings”. The phone wouldn’t boot and needed a fw reinstallation. But when I go to do so, I find that Apple is now only signing (via iTunes) 3.1.3. So now, I must triumph over my Orwellian overlords.
I do this by bypassing Apple’s own signature server, and pointing iTunes to a different server (a more cooperative one!), at the terminal prompt, by editing the host file.
Once that was done, everything reinstalled as though Steve Jobs had given it his own personal blessing.
So, nice job Apple. You’ve taken a completely loyal customer, (one who’s spent some serious coin) and completely alienated them against you. Now you fall into the category of suck, and all because of your stupid incestuous relationship with ATT.
Hope it was worth it. Because now I officially hate you, AND you officially failed at trying to lock me out of my phone.
Suck it.
Exactly the fukin same situation I'm sufferin from ….. I got ma phone like 6 days back nd now I cant even use it …. Anyone …. helpppppppppppppppppp …..
EXACTLY the same prob I'm stuck with …. Please Helppppp guys, experts ……
Thanks
I have the same prob as future ….. plz Help guys …..
If you backed up your phone on Cydia you will be able to downgrade to 3.1.2. If you have an older 3Gs iPhone then you can even downgrade your Modem Firmware.
My phone suddenly froze on me and the only thing it showed was the Apple Logo so I "Restored to factory settings." When I did so, iTunes updated my phone to 3.1.3 with the new Firmware. I thought it was over but, I remembered I backed up my phone on the Cydia server. You have to change a data file in "Notepad" (so that when you downgrade in iTunes it connects to Saurik's server not Apple's), afterwards while at the Recovery Mode screen run Quickpwn 22 so that the phone is "activated." Stop, then jailbreak using any method you want.
it did not even ask me wheather i wanted to up grade or not….so i was just innocently downloading facebook on my new 3G
it is blocked now.

Hi Boberto, how did you point iTunes to a different server, and which did you use?
"I do this by bypassing Apple’s own signature server, and pointing iTunes to a different server (a more cooperative one!), at the terminal prompt, by editing the host file."
OK, i think i figured it out. Check out this tutorial:

3GS can be restore to 3.1.2 if your iphone is jailbroken before the signature for 3.1.2 was gone.
