Folks at the Examiner have dug out some pretty interesting information about the launch of iPad.
According to inside sources, which includes an Apple Store manager, the tablet would be out on the shelves by the 26th of this month.
This is what we currently know: The Wi-Fi only version ofApple iPad shall be on sale at the retail stores starting 6 PM on March 26th. However, the 3G version of iPad is not expected to be available before April or May.
The employees at the Apple Stores are likely to enjoy a sneak-peek of the device much sooner. According to the sources, Apple will commence iPad-training for their staff from the 10th of this month. Examiner further states that Cupertino may also start airing the iPad commercials from the 15th of March and indicates that the ads shall target the e-book reading capabilities of the tablet device. It is also rumored that Apple is contemplating to reward people camping out for the iPad launch with a "special gift".
While rumors of the launch date concur with Steve Jobs' announcement that the iPad will be on sale from the end of March, we may still have to take these rumors with a grain of salt. You may recall that there were speculations earlier in the week that Apple's iPad may be limited at its launch due to a "manufacturing bottleneck" at partner Hon Hai Precision or could even get delayed by a month.
In the light of these speculations, do you see a March 26 launch likely? Will you be one of the early campers?
i wonder what kind of "special gift" it is…..
i'm not planning on buying this but if i was i just think the wifi only version is just a waste. then it truly is a over sized ipod touch. not having an ipad with 3g to me is just pointless. if you cant get on the net in a non wifi area with this thing then its a giant ipod… i guess you will have a big screen to play your games on but thats about it.
I am going to use my 3g google phone as a wireless modem as I will always have my phone around anyway. al I have wifi at work, home and the transit system that takes me across the bay!
yeah but most cities arent as wifi friendly has the SF area. even big cities like NYC and LA are not that wifi friendly. plus i dont think most jobs would be happy with people busting out their ipads when they should be working.
