AT&T Claims To Be Working Hard To Enable Tethering For iPhone Customers

AT&T CEO hints at metered data pricing

AT&T’s iPhone customers have been waiting for tethering to be enabled on the iPhone ever since Apple introduced the feature in iPhone OS 3.0.

If you have been patiently waiting for AT&T to officially enable iPhone tethering then we have some news for you.

MacDailyNews readers got this response from AT&T when they enquired about iPhone tethering:

“Tethering the iPhone is a priority for us and we are working hard to make it available as soon as possible. As you might imagine, we want to make sure that we deliver a quality customer experience from the start. We don’t have details yet but will be sure to make a news announcement when tethering becomes available.”

It's high time that AT&T enables tethering for its iPhone customers as it has been almost 9 months since the feature was introduced in iPhone OS 3.0. Users who have jailbroken their iPhone have already been able to enable tethering using simple hacks.

A recent 3G Performance Test conducted by PC World across 13 cities in the US showed that AT&T's claims of building additional 3G capacity was not merely a lip-service and is actually showing results. The PC World study had ranked AT&T as the top performing 3G network in US. So we're quite hopeful that AT&T will deliver on its promise.

What do you think? Are you waiting for iPhone tethering? Or you don’t care anymore? Let us know in the comments.

It might be hard to go back to regular tethering after MyWi…which seems to work just fine! :) I am wondering if it would increase my already rediculously high phone bill.
