Engadget has just reported that they’ve got hold of photos of what they believe could be the next generation iPhone or iPhone 4G or iPhone HD.

Apparently the phone was found in on the floor of a San Jose bar inside of an iPhone 3G case.

According to Engadget the phone has:

  • A front facing camera

  • Storage of 80GB  (which seems weird)

  • It was running an OS, which looked new.

Apparently the phone was found on the floor of a San Jose bar inside of an iPhone 3G case. Right now we don't have a ton of info on the device in question, but we can tell you that it apparently has a front facing camera (!), 80GB of storage (weird, right?), and isn't booting at this point (though it was previously, and running an OS that was decidedly new). It's not clear if this is definitely a production model, or just a prototype that found its way into the world, but it's certainly a compelling design, no matter how you look at it.

    if it is real, i cant believe an employees or secret tester would leave it one the floor by accident. im pretty sure it would be a way to attract publicity. the phone looks apple like but the 80 gb throws me off. anyways we just have to wait till june

    i wish there was more info listed here… like screen dimensions. and i would like to see a photo of the dock connector, just to clarify it's the 30pin that apple uses also why didn't they take a video of this new OS… would have been a good idea.

    It's most likely a prototype – Nothing more. The iPhone 4G will most likely have the same looks as the 3GS, depending on what gets added to the next generation iPhone hardware wise, the looks may be identical.

    and the iPhone which is comming out in june is now under top security and kept in secrete and I guess only less than 20 people in the world saw the final device!!!

    In my opnion this is the new iphone in trail version. this is probably an employees. As for the weird case and the 80 gig. First the case is to throw off any bystanders observing the phone. Someonen could easily say it was an europian rip off. Second the 80 gigs allows you to test out all the featurs for the iphone to make sure everything is fully operational. I think it real, but this is not what the public is going to see.

    i agree with you man. apple is smart and its quite possible that like he said is just for someone to test out. Although there are many companys that will totally copy the iphone even the apple logo's etc. i wish there was a video tho. And the exterior doesn't even look applish to me. That looks like a crossbreed of the iphone2g and the iphone3g ahaha

    Hard to say. One thing is for sure. It doesn't match the photos of the aluminum case photos that were leaked last week.. Of course, who is to say those were real either.

    I would prefer a thicker side or a thin rubber grip to make it easier to hold. I have dropped mine so many times because it is so slippery, and putting it in a case makes it too hard to slip in my back pocket. I also like the idea of the volume buttons being a completely different shape.

    if this were real, i would NOT buy this junk…ugly as hell if you ask me.. looks like a first gen ipod on the back, and they would not make the back all chrome for an iphone.

    I think it could be real, theres a picture with the back off exposing the battery.. Could Apple have made the battery user replaceable to comply with standards?

    If they did try and redesign to make it replaceable you would imagine the device would lose its curvy looks of its predecessors. I mean try and imagine removing a curvey backplate, that would be horrible.

    I think it looks good personally, but I can understand people not liking it, it is a big difference. If its real it can still change a lot from an early prototype

    I agree, the XX is a give away. Definitely legit but don't expect the final product to look like that. It doesn't seem odd to me that they found it in the floor of some bar. I have to admit, I've lost an iPhone at a bar.

    i don't think so ..as many said if it is a protype of next gen iPhone ,thy ll keep it in a safe place not in the emplyee's Hands to take it to the bar ..maybe be the nxt iPhone will be drinking beers :) ))

    I don't think it has a removable battery, I think they just opened it to show how the inside looks like. I think this is legit. I bet those guys in apple are going crazy right now.

    I currently own a 3GS and it is much more cooler than this…so I think the 4G iPhone must be more cooler than my 3GS…this does not look..apple to me even for a prototype..

    Hopefully this isn't the final prototype. I love the looks of my 3GS, and to me, this looks way crappier. The one that was released last week, although fake, look way nicer. Apple should do that and make it similar to the iPad where it's all aluminum. Aluminum is way more durable and doesn't look like crap as fast as the chrome does. Plus aluminum wouldn't show half the fingerprints that the current ones do.

    If this is real but I doubt it but if it is this may be
    the new iPhone they are making for verizon, cause in the pics
    they have I didn't see the sim tray or even a place for the sim card
    so my guess would be it could be the verizon iPhone, cause it's surely not gonna
    be the one for AT&T I mean look how ugly it is it looks more like
    a knockoff it looks like the Prada or whatever the heck touch screen
    phone they had prada or gucci y'all know what I mean but it is defenitely not
    an apple iPhone I sure hope not that thing is F ugly.

    Not just that but take a real close look at the first picture they show us
    at the top of the iPhone with the back on it and look at the bottom of the phone in the pic
    and u will see the two little screw next to the speakers like on a real iPhone and then look at the other pics they have up of it and look at the bottom of the phone they have no holes on the bottom of the phone where the screws should be on an iPhone, now look at the top of the phone by the headphone Jack and they have a screw up there beside it no real iPhone has a screw by the hedphone Jack… I mean hell it looks more like somebody took a samsung behold and put an iPhone screen and back case on it just to mess with people or maybe just used photo shop or something like that and edited the phone to look like that and what a ugly phone.

    i personally LOVE this. I really do hope the next iPhone looks similar to this. I've never really been a fan of the rounded back, and i just loved the metal back on my original iphone.

    personally i think its the iphone 4g (HD) guts in a prototype case, i`d have made 3 or 4 prototype cases and see which looked, felt and performed (heat wise and WIFI wise) best. i think its a legit prototype, looks a bit like the macbook in design probably 85% or wht the american'll see in july. and wht us brits'll see by the 2012 olympics (still bitter about the ipad lol)

    nope its not the new iphone, apple will not allow you to remove the battery yourself. and, if it is the 4g iphone, i will stick to the 3gs because its much nicer than this crap. apple will do much better than that :D

    Phones like that are usually easily made in china or some other country. all you have to do is do a search on china made phones and you can see that in china they can copy pretty much any phone, just not the operating system of the phone.

    I second that, I saw a fake Chinese iPhone myself when I went to Dubai on a holiday last year. It was sooo close to the real think but runs crappy OS. AVOID!!!

    Apple would never design a prototype as ugly as the one shown above, It lacks Apple's "simplicity and elegancy" design, you all should know that.

    In my opinion that is one of those Taiwanese, Chinese ripoffs and whoever left it there just want to get attention from your drooling faces!

    A block piece like this is anything but an APPLE design. I am sure of that. I am tired of these fake pictures running around the internet, when we know for sure it is next to impossible to get a preview of the product before apple wants to show it.
