The Spirit Jailbreak is finally live.
Comex has released the much awaited Spirit jailbreak to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3, iPhone OS 3.1.2 for all iPhones (including iPhone 3GS with updated Boot ROM) and iPod Touches and iPhone OS 3.2 for iPad.
Comex was supposed to release the Spirit jailbreak on Friday but was delayed for couple of days due to the launch of iPad 3G so that they had enough time to take a backup of the SHSH blobs.
The Spirit jailbreak is available for Mac OS X and Windows users.
Here are some details about the Spirit jailbreak:

Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.

Spirit is not a carrier unlock. So you won't be able to unlock your iPhone.

If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
Here are the requirements of the Spirit jailbreak:

Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.

An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.

Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).

Syncing with iTunes before trying this highly recommended.

Please remember that jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch could void its warranty. So please proceed with caution. It is always a good idea to take a backup of your iPhone before you hack it, refer to this post for more details. iPad users need to be more careful as some packages in Cydia, are not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore.

anyone get a error when truing to update there app store apps and when trying to download new apps? also a few errors when syncing for the first time..and if you have a ipad no point yet unless u need sbsettings…nothing works

It says failed to jailbreak for mine. It says error code c0000005. Someone help??
Oh i know the problem. Run the program in windows 98 compatibility mode and it should work fine if you get the error.
I am on firmware 3.0.1 3GS, do i need to update my firmware to 3.1.3 before jailbreak?

Untethered means that the jailbreak software will not need a computer everytime you turn off and turn your ipod back on. You wont have to re-JB over and over.

Before if you had an iPod touch (3.1.3) and wanted to jailbreak it, if you ran out of battery or turned it off, you would get the "connect to iTunes" message and basically had to do another soft jailbreak to get it to go back to your home screen (jailbreak still installed). This was kind of a pain. Untethered doesn't require that anymore.
Anyone else having problems using installous. It loads but not really. Just seeing a blank screen. I can still read Installous on the very top, but that's it.
My iPad is stuck with the Apple logo startup, itune is seeing it syncing, but only Apple with Black bgd.
Yes Spirit jb supports only iPhone OS 3.1.3 and iPhone OS 3.1.2, don't forget to take a backup.

Why do we need another jailbreak. All these devices ware jailbroken before. You better make good carrier unlock.

it says spirit requires itunes 9 to function properly. i had itunes 9.0.1?, updated to 9.1.1 etc, did all the compatibility mode to windows 98 and 95.. restarted computer, everything.. but still fails to load the spirit. i've read that a number of people are having the same problem, yet without an answer. anyone?
how can i get it to run on vista?
Is it possible for anybody to actually e-mail me the spirit files I have no way to download them right now. And I can save files if emailed on another phone then transfer the files to my PC.

Set the compatibility to 'Run in Windows 98 / Me' and it should jailbreak fine

for anyone who got a c000035a error, I tried it on a different computer run under 98/ME compatibility and tick run as administrator and it worked
