But Apple manufacturing its own case for iPhone 4 did come as a surprise.
Apple is calling its iPhone 4 case, a Bumper. The iPhone 4 Bumper goes around the edge of the iPhone 4 and doesn’t cover the back of the iPhone like regular iPhone cases. It comes with metal two-tone colors buttons for volume and power.
It’s made of a combination of rubber and molded plastic and in Apple’s words “add a touch of style” to iPhone 4.
Here are some photos, which show you how Apple’s iPhone case will look like on iPhone 4.
Bumper for iPhone 4 will be available in 6 colors — white, black, blue, green, orange, or pink and will cost $29.
I’ve never been a fan of mobile phone cases. iPhone is the first mobile phone for which I’ve bought a case. The main reason for buying a case for my iPhone 3GS was to protect the screen if it falls down.
I’ll be definitely buying the bumper for iPhone 4 rather than the regular iPhone case as I find it very functional. The bumps will not only protect iPhone 4’s front and back glass panels when it falls down, which addresses my concern but they’ll also reduce the possibility of scratches as they’ll prevent the front and the back glass from touching the surface.
Apple also claims that the glass used in iPhone 4 is the same type of glass used in the windshields of helicopters and high-speed trains, which has been chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic that makes it ultradurable and more scratch resistant than ever.
Do you use a case for your iPhone currently? What's the main reason for using an iPhone case? Will you be buying a Bumper for your new iPhone 4 or a regular iPhone case, which covers the back?
