Apple online stores are currently down as it prepares for iPhone 4 pre-orders.
Steve Jobs had announced during the WWDC 2010 Keynote address that iPhone 4 will be available from June 24 while it will start accepting pre-orders from June 15.

Apple's online store is back up and as expected, iPhone 4 is now available for pre-orders.
We had initially heard rumors that other retailers like Best Buy, RadioShack will also be accepting pre-order for the first time. But looks like that is not going to happen as Apple may be blocking third-party retailers from taking pre-orders.
Meanwhile, AT&T’s iPhone 4 pre-order page seems to be live but iPhone 4 models are still not available. MacRumors is reporting that AT&T allowed users to pre-order but has now been brought down for maintenance.
The exact time when iPhone 4 will be available for pre-orders is still not known, however Apple had started taking pre-orders for iPad at 5:30 am Pacific time.
We’ll let you know as soon as Apple’s online stores are back up to take iPhone 4 pre-orders.

It looks like only the black iPhone 4 model is available for pre-orders as Apple's website says that "White iPhone currently unavailable for pre-order or in-store pickup", which is disappointing for users hoping to buy the white iPhone, which for the first time also comes with a white front panel.

It looks like the surge of traffic due to iPhone 4 pre-orders has brought down Apple's online store in the US. Apple's online store in UK and Canada are still available. Many readers have reported that they're facing issues placing an order on Apple's website. Some of our readers have commented that they didn't face any issue placing the order for the new iPhone on AT&T's website.

I was very excited for the iPhone 4 to be released and although i'm still getting it i'm very dissapointed i won't be able to get white! I think the white looks so sick, I guess i'll just have to get black for now and offer someone $100 or so to trade for white when its released. :S

I have no idea, I read an article a little while back saying Apple was manufacturing 3 million iPhones per month for launch date..but recently an email was sent out to At&t employees stating that only black will be available at launch and white will be available in mid summer possibly august. I pre-ordered my Phone, but it show $599.00 in the email. AT&T is giving it to me at $199.00. Does that look like a mistake or is it just showing the actual value of the phone?

I was unable to pre-order one… The site system stated that for whatever reason I'll have to reserve the phone and go into an Apple store. I suspect it has to do with the fact that I haven't been on contract for over 11 years with AT&T ($39.95 for 900 minutes, free nights & weekends, free mobile to mobile and unlimited free incoming text messages). My account has been set up to not be changed with the exception of allowing a data plan to be added at a later time. Guess I can't have it all now, but I've waited for years for an iPhone being that this is my first ever smartphone of any sort. What's another couple weeks.

Wassup with Apple telling me I have to reserve an iPhone! I want to pre-order the sucker not go into the store. I've been with ATT forever, also not on contract for a long time. In fact I'm on the original Blue/mMode plan around 2001 before Cingular bought them out. Fricken ridiculous that ATT long-time customers who pay their bills on time and stay loyal are having to deal with such a hassle.

waiting for white. This is ridiculous. not only is the phone only available in black but its not available at a "no-contract" price.
It has worked fine for me the whole time, but now it is stuck trying to load the page to enter my credit card information. Now the server crashed and I had to restart but now it won't let me select the iPhone 4 as an option. This is on the AT&T site.

Its funny smses are so expensive in US. In Singapore free incoming messages is like a must, the cheapest most basic plans gets 500 free outgoing messages. (US$0.03 for each extra message) Students get unlimited outgoing messages. All these for around US$15 =)

I'm currently in the United States and have been trying to pre-order the Iphone 4 for an hour. When I attempt to check my eligibility ( done several times) I am prompted that my session has timed out. I tried calling apple and a automated message says they are currently flooded with callers and are unable to take any more. The AT & T site is down for "maintenance". All this information is applicable to the time of this post.
