We have an update for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS users who are eagerly waiting for iPhone Dev Team or Comex to release their tools to jailbreak and/or unlock their iPhone.
Comex has indicated that he plans to release his Spirit like tool in a few days and doesn’t plan to wait for Apple to release iOS 4.1, which it had seeded to developers of its iPhone Developer Program last week.

Few weeks back, MuscleNerd, member of the iPhone Dev team had announced that Comex will be releasing a Spirit like tool to jailbreak iOS 4 foriPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS (irrespective of old or new bootrom) and also for iPhone 4.
But it was widely speculated that he will wait for Apple to release iOS 4.1 before releasing the tools. But he has just tweeted that he doesn’t plan to wait for iOS 4.1:
I'm not waiting for 4.1 so I hope everyone has SHSH blobs saved. :p
He has also indicated that he plans to release the Spirit like tool in a few days.

Does this mean if I have a 3gs that was already 4.0 when I got it I am screwed since it is not yet jailbroken and thus I do not have blobs saved? If so are any of these upcoming jailbreaks for non-jailbroken iphones? I realize this may be a stupid question because everyone with an iphone 4 would be screwed to even though it specifically says it is for that phone as well?

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4. I did not upgrade to 4.0.1 yet. Is it too late to obtain my SHSH key without upgrading to 4.0.1? Should I stay with 4.0 until the jailbreak is out?

The best solution is Apple finally listening to us and implementing these things on their own.
Even non jailbroken iPhone 4 is at least tolerable..not perfect cause the notifications suck but its not that bads..GO COMEX
@iPhoneHacks: Where did you get that inofrmation? This is just NOT TRUE. He has never "He has also indicated that he plans to release the Spirit like tool in a few days" or gave any information regarding the release date. It may be in few days but is just guessing. On spiritjb.com clearly states: The release date of the next jailbreak is "when it's done". Don't trust what people write in the comments.

This will be good for 90% of iPhone users. The other 10% don't really care. It's amazing how far jailbreaking has come and why those 90% of people really want it. Hell my wife 3g was jailbroken so she can customize it to her liking. Hope this does wonders for the new iPhone 4 owners.
i dont understand why apple doesnt just go to the creator of cydia and say "heres 5,000,000 for your program and whatever and sell cydia in there app store. but oh well thats there problem im just so glad there are people out there willing to take there time and develop jailbreaks and unlocks and awsome tweeks and mods.

Either use spirit, or upgrade to 4.0.1 then wait for comex's new jailbreak. However, make sure you have your shsh blobs saved no matter what you choose.
If you have your blobs saved then you can just use those to downgrade, if not, then you're stuck at 4 or 4.0.1, whatever you have. AFter you downgrade just run spirit, or whatever jailbreak you want.
Always just save your blobs for every iOS on any iDevice you own. Problem solved.

I'm new at this, so this means if I don't have my shsh I can't jailbreak? I haven't jailbroken my iPhone it came with 4.0.1. The question is, would I be able to jailbreak iPhone with redsnow or spirit??
ya, "soon" the world will end…. we all KNOW that! Give us a gosh darn REAL eta so we can just wait patiently instead of hearing 30000 different stories about the releases. Support, plain and simple. If Apple offered up Cydia or something like it, they'd then be on the hook to support any issues that arose from all the 3rd party software. Jailbreak apps, while some very useful, are almost all buggy as hell. Ironically, even if Apple opened the iPhone API wide open and let anything your little mind could dream up into the app store, most of what's currently out there would still be rejected because of bugs.
i run a update as soon as ios 4 was out, before that i had 3.1.3 jb with spirit. will i be able to jb my 3gs with ios 4 as soon as comes does his thing ??
